Kieran Trippier

Sorry i meant as in part of the u21/development squad - which is what he is at this moment i would say, wouldn't you?

No, he's a player who has performed strongly for a top Championship side, he'd be in the same position as Pritchard if his season hadn't been disrupted by injuries. He certainly won't be playing u21s again wherever he ends up after this summer.

I think he's RB, but he got crowbarred in at LB during the games in Australia and Malaysia. Given his age that's even more impressive, but as someone else said he's a few years off the first team because he needs to still physically develop.

Yeah - Ogilvie is the LB

Erm...good signing, I guess? Honestly didn't see the need for another RB heading into this summer (what with Yedlin, Fredericks out on loan and KWP a bit further behind), but if Poch feels Yedlin isn't up to speed, then I suppose Trippier ticks all the right boxes: young, homegrown, cheap for a back-up to Walker, good crosser, consistent, mostly fit (played all 38 PL games for Burnley, IIRC), presumably better than Fredericks.

Welcome to the club, young Trippier. Glad to have you aboard.

personally I dont think Fredericks will ever make it at PL level and KWP isnt going to be ready for a couple years. Yedlin I havent seen enough of

I therefore view it as us having 2-3 right backs, not 4-5

Why? By all accounts, his spell at Middlesbrough was impressive enough.

Dier will be pleased!

Having seen the effectiveness of Dier's delivery whilst at RB, then I can see why Poch and co have looked at someone who can get the ball into the box.

Welcome Trippy! Always looked handy whenever I saw Burnley play last season so glad to have him. Hopegully this spells goodbye for Vlad and Dier can relax and know he's only gonna play centre back

Kane could have a field day off some of those crosses, so might Soldado??
I was just about to post something similar. The man sure likes a cross. I bet Soldado is watching those clips and having a little cry in the corner now.

In the first vid he scores and hugs a wheelchair user during his celebrations and probably made his day. That's a few gold stars in the plus column already for me. Welcome French Tripper.

Benteke would like those crosses too. Just saying.

Very Gary Neville in terms of his delivery, willing to cross in front of him rather than pushing to get the byline and cut back like Walker.

Home grown also which helps the squad.

I would now like to see some deadwood shifted.

We'll see - if he stays here id wager he'll be playing plenty of u21 football, for match fitness if nothing else

Full back is critical for Poch's style of play (as we saw when Walker returned to the team; however Walker;s fitness and form is anything but guaranteed - and Dier filling in being an obvious case of square pegs in round holes; would you really be comfortable on gambling on one of those three greenhorns coming good and carrying the team all season?

Trippier is a brilliant signing! Practically free... he may be a revelation making the RB spot his own, an adequate back up - more than sufficient for EL and cup games (giving Walker a rest) and if worse comes to worst (or if Yedlin develops into a better player after his loan) we will easily shift him, probably even for a small profit. No brainer!!

Welcome Kieran! :)

I agree with most here that it seems like a solid signing. And like most here I'm happy to see us sign full backs that can usefully cross the ball with a decent consistency.
