Yes and at a time when we as a club need to be at least a bit prudent with the new stadium currently being constructed.

The beauty in this being that the new stadium will bring untold riches (which are ours for forever more, not given to us for a period of time by a billionaire owner who needed a new toy to play with), riches we can use to buy some of the best players in the world turning us into a superpower!

Meanwhile others have to rely on a combo of Mike Ashley and Rafa Benitez!

And look at the Scum, bags of cash, Wenger can't make his mind up caught between signing elite players or development players. Bar Sanchez none have excelled recently.

Wimmer could well stake a claim for a first team place this year. When Verts was injured I knew he'd be sound for 10 or so games. Now he needs to take the next step...

Happy this lad has signed up, think he'll see a fair amount of football whatever happens and he showed that he could step in.
 
So what's the news with him? Is it as simple as CCV being selected ahead of him? Perhaps Poch thinks Davies can cover Vertonghen's position so better to have CCV on the bench? The team news on Thurs/Fri only said that Lloris and Dembele were missing
 
Worrying because disappearances like this for no obvious reason tend to signal the end. Some will say that's an overstatement but it did for the likes of Stambouli, Bentaleb, Pritchard et al.

There's a big difference between Wimmer and those three. Wimmer had played well in the first team over an extended period under Poch. Stambouli played some games but never excelled at all, whilst Bentaleb were never high on the list of players which Poch rated as he didn't pick them

I think the clearest sign that Wimmer must still be in Poch's plans is that we haven't prioritised another CB this summer - we wouldn't go into the season with just TA, JV and CCV

Bentaleb played an entire season under Poch in 14/15 and then seemed to disappear over night, so I would say that comparison is a fair one to make here.
 
Behind Carter vickers in the pecking order, according to Poch. Can't link the article on the phone, but was from the mirror or something with quotes from Poch. It did mention that wimmer just recently got fit though, so that has obviously got something to do with him not featuring on the bench.
