Juan Foyth

He has that certain something when the ball is at his feet. Reminds me of, yes I know he's still in nappies figuratively speaking, Der Kaiser!

One of the greatest players i have seen, if he gets anywhere near him then we have good times to look forward too.

We need to be a bit patient. He needs a lot of matches to become really comfortable on the ball in tight situations, develop his positional sense and, only through experience, his decision making. Once he has done that, his already evident footballing ability should by then allow him to play out from the back and double up as an extra midfielder when we are dominant. I can see him reaching the level and style of play of Alan Hansen who he currently reminds me of most. Then, who knows, when he is captaining Argentina and Tottenham, he could reach the supreme confidence and authority of a Beckenbauer.

What? Patient? Are you mad? If he does not perform at Baresi levels for rest of the season he is dead to me.

Pochettino is not one to shy away from giving young players a chance to shine. And that decision is reaping its rewards on the international stage now too.

Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni was glowing in his praise of not only Foyth, but Pochettino too, following the 2-0 win over Mexico in Cordoba.

Scaloni said: "I think we are in front of a big centre-back, an important player for the future of the national team, and his coach [Pochettino] is taking it in an extraordinary way."

"We are very happy with Foyth, we are talking about a great centre-back, with a great future, it was a risk to start him play but he did it very well."

yes, great man management/arm round the shoulder etc from Poch, him and sanchez at the back in a few years, no worries.

When Toby made his debut against for us against Stoke he gave up a penalty and he has not turned out a bad player, so not that Juan gave up 2 penalties maybe it is a sign that he will be twice the player

If he gave away 5 that would have been ideal

Very composed, though not sure I'd like him and Sanchez tested as a pairing just yet given the inexperience. We extneded JV's contract recently, would love to see us do so with TA as those 4 together as a group of CBs for the next 2-3 years would do very nicely

When did we extend Vertonghen’s contract? How long does he have now? That’s great news and as you said, I like the grouping of 4 centre backs that we have now. All reliable and can come in to play against anyone and will perform well. Foyth may have been fortunate not to concede a penalty but he’s young and still learning. He will cut out those mistakes and will become an excellent centre back.
