personally im not fussed about separating those two, just as long as there is at least one read only thread purely for the info be that ITK or Journo or a combination of both

Twitter doesn't write rumours, it's just a vehicle for others to get their stuff out there. I don't want to separate twitter from anything as it includes all kinds.

A clear no from me - they're ultimately the same source - i.e. 90% made up flimflam and larglery copying from each other anyway

Too many different prescriptive threads might suffocate/discourage discussion, imv

Keep it simple - one locked sticky updated daily - one discussion thread based on that

I don't understand the mindset of some posters.

You don't like ITK, you don't believe in ITK but you want it posted amongst everything else. Now me for example, I don't like golf, but I don't go into the golf thread(not sure if we even have one) to tell everyone it's brick and that people shouldn't believe in it. My personal belief is that a select few sad individuals get off on trying to convert those whom they believe to be "believers" when in reality they're just sane messageboard users who take things at face value and discuss accordingly. It especially goes over the top when the person posting the ITK(simply copying it from SC usually) then gets abused for it, but if they were to post something from a newspaper or a website then nothing negative would be said. Therefore it makes complete sense to keep the two separate as those who cannot help themselves from slagging off any ITK would have no reason whatsoever to even view the ITK discussion thread.

Personally, I do not think that a locked, updated ITK thread will work. People want their ITK fresh, they don't want to wait for me to get my lazy arse into gear to post it on your behalf.

I think that Rossi is right, a non-discussion thread where anyone can post ITK, rumours and gossip but no one can comment on it will work best.

Anyone who can't stick to the rules will get their posts deleted and get banned from posting in the sub-forum for 24 hours :evil:

Remember - some posters are only here to promote these people by posting their drivel and refuse to engage in debates where logic comes into place - fair enough but others prefer to discuss those 'postings' in a bit more detail

If we're putting everything in one thread I think it's only fair to expect people to show a lot more restraint when it comes to bashing. Too many negative posts, unrelated to the info, will also suffocate/discourage discussion, IMO.

But it won't be one thread since there will be an info-only update sticky where posters can only contribute with 'news' and not discussion

We've already more or less decided to go with a separate update thread, a "read only". The poll is whether we should consider separate update threads or even discussion threads for ITK since it gets followed by some much pointless negativity instead of any discussion of the merits of the actual rumour.

well it isn't really, but that's not what is really being discussed, is it ?

there is either going to be two read only threads - 1 for ITK, 1 for Newspaper/Websites or just the one for all ITK + rumors. then there will be a discussion thread for all talk on what's being added to the threads above

The actual rumours aren't, but those that post them, whether it be on twitter or another forum, carry a certain stigma that leads to all the negative comments that have little or nothing to do with the rumour. I'm very aware that there are a lot of kids out there pretending to be ITK, but some people actually know stuff, even if it doesn't come off all the time. I just think people are able to make up their own mind about how credible something is and the proceed to discuss it if it seems reasonable or even if it's just pipedreams.

Actually, I've just remembered. Arcspace has me on ignore(hi Arcs) so if we leave it to me to post all of the ITK over to here then there should be no problem as Arcspace won't be able to read it, which in turn cuts down on 50% of the unnecessary thread derailing.

I'm fine with that. It'd be interesting to see how popular it was if there are individual threads on players too but like Billy says, we can use it as a trial run for the summer.

I'm thinking it would be a transfer chat/discussion thread as before, leaving the player threads for FM stats and youtube compilations, all the essential stuff you need to assess a player.
