I can agree witih most of that - but why a sub-forum?
Because otherwise SN&V will get completely over run with threads on every player that we are linked with.
The idea of this is to promote discussion and debate.

I think that this is a good idea. I found having to read the same people bashing the same ITKs every day really boring.

Does that imply positive and a negative discussion thread?
I'm going out for a couple of hours now (bloody Missus is off to Florida for Black friday shopping) but I'll raise a poll when back.
Any more ideas in the meantime?
I think any discussion about the January transfer window will essentially lead to false hope and disappointment so I reckon that we just shouldn't acknowledge it's existence and ban anyone who does. With that tactic we also wouldn't have to worry about how the threads will work as well \o/
To add some random ideas/thoughts:
The "read only" would be open for everyone to post in, but only rumours/links, no discussion.
All rumours, ITK, twitter etc. MUST come with a source/link. Just because something's on twitter doesn't make it crap, a lot of journos and slightly clued up people use it as well, hence the need to know who posted it originally.
Separate threads for discussing individual players. Some places demand a link before you start discussing a player, but don't think that's necessary. We all know that the fine people of GG are far superior to any scout. No joke. Well, maybe a little.
Separate ITK from everything else as a 'don't read if you don't like' thread?
Sub forum with a general chat, a read only and threads for players we have been credibly linked too would be a good shout imo.
Most people were complaining that they couldn't come on and find out what had happened during the day in the mega thread because there had been like 100+ posts since they last looked at it, the read only thread would solve this.
Threads for players we have been credibly linked too would be good, as the discussions about our 'definite' targets would not get lost in the mix.
Finally the general chat is good because sometimes people start talking about players they want, or that they think would be a good shout, rather than players who we might actually be in for.
Sounds like a good plan to me.
Good luck with that!
a read only thread please, and a general discussion thread where all rumours can be discussed
if people cant stop themselves from adhering to the READ ONLY rules then infract them to infinity......what so difficult to understand about read only
Agree with all this. Though the subforum will still need an ITK abuse thread. That's the highlight of transfer windows.
Another great thing about a sub forum, you can remove access to it.
I would like to propose the following name - 'The Official We8 Campbell Memorial Thread'
I've never been a forum moderator so I don't know how easy it is for you guys to edit/delete things in a live and fast moving discussions. But if you were able to, then a tight policy of "stick to the thread guidelines or your post is deleted" surely would help?
I'm thinking of a read only thread with this, but I guess you can extend it to others if you liked. If someone writes a lengthy response to AgentITK suggesting Lionel Messi is done and dusted, then it's their fault for not reading the rules. Plus I would suggest if someone is clever enough to right someone really intelligent and interesting, then they aren't going to make that sort of mistake anyway.
If attributable to a source, even ITK, there's really not much happening in a day and it would be a lot easier to keep up with than being followed by ten pages of and abandon thread pictures.
So I reckon you need:
- one free for all Spurs transfer thread
- one read only rumours thread (THFC only?)
- one all-other-transfers thread
- a dedicated thread to each player once confirmed signed by the club.
(First post should always contain link to the OS)
I'd also say that sometimes the thread titles, although funny, can set the tone a bit and if you want people to get straight to the point then it needs to say it too. Every player at the club has his own thread now, so I suppose a simple way of doing it would be to start the title with the players name, and anything after that can be changed eg. "Adebayor"; "Scott Parker: what exactly does he do?" both ok as far as I'm concerned but "Get behind Dempsey and Make peace" wouldn't, as much as I'd like to start it
I like the idea of a read only & general discussion thread and agree with Arc that all the posters and the ITK posts will all end up in the general discussion thread.. What hapens when posters stop putting stuff in the Read Only thread cos they are spending all their time in the discussion thread and don't feel the need to update the read only thread that they will never go in?
Maybe we should advise posting ITK posts in red or bold etc in the general thread then any helpful posters can go copy paste over to the read only thread for those that don't care/have time for the massive discussions thread?
