January transfer rumour thread

I love deadline day. The ridiculous rumours are usually entertaining.

I actually wish it didn't clash with a match though, too much for my brain.

IMO Zamora would be a massive upgrade on Pav. Dempsey isnt a striker per se but would be of more value to the squad than Pav.

Saha, Rodallega offer something different and better suited to our style of play.

Any of them come in at Pavs expense and we are better off.

Do you understand the fact that Pav's position is on the bench unless Ade, VdV and Defoe are all unavailable

Which means that Zamora would in a month's time have lost a fair bit of his match sharpness and quite possibly his confidence. Same for all the others.

Bench players lose their edge - it is inevitable.

What exactly does Rodallega offer more than Pav? Worse goal-scoring record? Weaker physique? bricker finish? Do you honestly think Bale or VdV would let him take a free-kick ahead of them?

All of the above players are starters in their respective team and would wilt on our bench in no time - look at Krunchie, Pienaar, Gio - better than ALL OF THE ABOVE you mentioned - yet utterly ineffective due to their relative position
 
personally i'd rather have Rodallega than Pav, and much rather Zamora than either, wouldn't want Saha though, he's made of glass

Do you understand why Pav is on our bench? And why that bears no relation to another players prospects?

Pav doesnt fit the team. At all. Basically he isnt an option.

However, imagine we had someone who WAS an option? Hmmm... Wilting on the bench or essential cog in the machine? You decide.
 
looks like Allardyce is going for a striker overload to ensure promotion
