Interim manager thread 2.0

Well i have been trained over many years not to make my mind up on limited uncontextualised material. And many years of experience have confirmed the wisdom to that approach. Would I be comfortable if one of my daughtera brought Greenwood home? Hell no. But that is far from being able to make a firm judgement on what went on and who he is as a person. And even further than being able to make a judgement on De Zerbi.

Loooooool. Jesus Christ, it's Jason Bourne.

Ha. And WHAT would make you uncomfortable? I'd love to know.

You won't dial back referring to anyone who disagrees with your stand as (sarcastically I'm sure 'an evangelist')? Oh I think you should.

Yeah yeah, 'trial by media indeed'...what absolute rubbish!

I won't even say what I want to here. Needless to say, the LAST sentiment you state is appalling in my view. What should bother you 'more than anything' are the 'multiple rape cases you've seen'...honestly, what an irresponsible comment! I'd better stop...
Well as you well know via DM conversations, clearly the cases i had to deal with bothered me more, very much more as i left my entire career and i still take prescription anti-depressants. When i don,'t take them, my chin and jaw go knumb. I can feel my own heart beating. I grind my teeth in my sleep. I still have to wear shields for bed even on my medication. So don't get on your highhorse about a casual use of language. At this point in time, reading tgis forum, people forming hard opinions on De Zerbi for playimg this guy based on a complete snippet of a whole other unknown life ...really bothers me. As does the age we live in.

The victim statement with the audio and video and text is enough to know how vile he is. He needs to repent and show remorse. The moment we condone this behavioir the incel culture continues to flourish. And thst culture is a danger to our society at the same level as Islamic extremism in my view.
I only heard the audio which was fairly repulsive but doesn’t, in itself, prove Greenwood to be a rapist. Do you have link to the victim statement please or has it been taken down from everywhere when the case was dropped?

Wait I’m confused are we signing Greenwood or De Zerbi?

To my knowledge, De Zerbi hasn’t been accused of anything, so to hold against him the account of someone else is ridiculous. Neither is he judge or jury, in this country at least people are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, irrespective of opinions the player was not proven guilty so for him to then take action against said player sounds like a unfair dismissal/bullying case waiting to happen.

I will also point out I see no comments of the likes of Gascoigne turning up for charity matches etc.

Judge the guy on his football, he has not broken the law personally so I won’t hang him for it.

I agree with your sentiment, however trial without judicial proceedings and outcome is more dangerous.
What Greenwood did (which may, or may not, be a reflection of who he is now) is disgusting (I won't get in to adjective semantics) - however, we have a system of law, and he hasn't been found guilty of a crime.

Football is a job. He shouldn't be stopped from doing his job, and RDZ by extension, just because he's a cnut.
It's a horrible, hideous, and uncomfortable truth. But it is a truth.

Whether you want to associate with the employer is a different matter - but I put it to you (any "you") that that is a very privileged position to take (IE to have the choice to choose a product using morality) and a highly selective one; a selectively that inevitably leads to contradiction.
We all consume products on a regular basis the mortality of which we find disgusting; and even more the mortality of which we'd find disgusting if we looked closer.

I appreciate all of that is hideous. I don't like it, but it is accurate.

Worth also pointing out that Utd concluded their own internal investigation and stated that "the material posted online did not provide a full picture and Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged. That said, as Mason publically acknowledges today, he has made mistakes for which he is taking responsibility for"

Great point on Gascoigne.

Lots of people willing to turn a blind eye to violence against women in favour of their football team. Who’d have thought.

“The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.”

He publicly defended Greenwood. So yeah, that’s his standard and it’s not a standard I accept at Spurs.
What did he say about Greenwoid? He said he is a good guy and it makes him sad what has happened to him in his life. He said he smiles more than when he first joined Marseille and has become more human which he is glad to see. Not sure i have seen anything defending anything he has done to any woman bearing in mind we don't know what actually went on although Man Utd's official statement was that after an internal investigation they were satisfied he did not commit the actions he was accused of.

Ok mate

Here's a clip of De Zerbi 'in managerial action' at Marseille.

Hey, if you think this is the right way forward for our club, that's your perogative.

For me, when you add this to his casual defence of Greenwood ('a good guy who has paid a heavy price') then I find myself strongly hoping we don't wander down that path and hire a bloke who appears to be a bit of a c unt.
