Injuries

Thanks for posting that video Daisuk. Anton McElhone is a big fan of Ange and says he is a very forward thinking coach with huge knowledge of injury prevention and sports science and doesn't over-train players etc.

Tangentially interesting from Emery's Villa, playing yet another midweek game:
Another defensive headache for Unai Emery as Matty Cash comes off to be replaced by John McGinn.

Villa are already down to one fit centre-back in Ezri Konsa and it appears Lamare Bogarde has gone to right-back while Boubacar Kamara drops from midfield into the centre of defence alongside Konsa.
Ridiculous how Emery ignores his medical team (says @Gutter Boy somewhere ;) )

I know we have been giving some brick to the medical team but good lord they must have been through the mill recently.

That’s a hell of a lot of expensive meat they are healing.

Hopefully only Dragusin that got injured in that one (and fingers crossed it's not a bad one). Sarr getting through and looked to get through ok. Richarlison playing a bit more and if anything looked like he wanted to stay on the pitch. Bissouma back for 45, along with Son, Kulusevski, VdV and Bentancur only playing 45 so a touch of rest.

Hopefully will do us some good heading into the Brentford game.

Isn’t Romero back training???

Postecoglou says that Romero is a “slow healer” and being “looked at on week to week basis” according to press conference.

Hmmm .. wonder why our injuries are what they are

Reminds me of that meme about America's gun problem : 'No Way to Prevent This,' Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

That chart is crazy, if true.
So we spend about 26% of our time sprinting and Cheatski spend about 20% of their time sprinting.
Added onto that, we presumably have fewer rest breaks when the ball is out of play and in neither teams' possession, as 'we never stop' so perhaps that pushes us even further.

See how pep has cited playing differently to cater to their injury situation.

Now its radu. I don't think the injuries will stop until ange changes his tactics...specifically he needs much better results in possession, or he needs more bodies lower and defending .

Outrunning the opposition is possible in lower leagues, but every teammis comparable in terms of fitness in the epl. It's down to player skills and ractics, both I dont see ange or his coaches great at.

It's ange ball that is highly inefficient. I don't believe the injuries will stop unless ange changes things. Heavier rotation is my guess and it will help, but pushing players to their limit every game won't work in the epl. Need to be smarter than that

Dragusin's injury was nothing to do with any of this.
His studs caught and his knee went against the motion. He could've done that in pre-season.

True but imo more possible that simple joint twists are from not fully recovered muscles that have gone to sleep. Muscles play a huge role in protecting joints.

That or our training pitch is covered with some cheap velcro like turf substitute.
