I'd love to know how many international fixtures there were in Charlton and Rooney's day - as a comparison. I also imagine there weren't too many San Marinos in the former's heyday?

Milner, Shelvey, Delph...midfield fudgeing dream team.

Just wish England weren't so boring. We could have a front 4 of Kane with Sterling, Rooney and Walcott behind, but no- too "risky".

As much as it's annoying from a Spurs POV. England has qualified.

Yes but against the duck and dog, coach and horses and queen vic??

It's a cliche but you can only win what's against you. The fact that countries like Iceland, Wales and co are killing it (and Netherlands in danger of not even qualifying for 3rd) show you that it's not so simple.

To be fair though, Iceland and Wales are better than anyone in our group. We really did have one of the easiest draws possible.

I can't fault the results. Just England do have some exciting players, so find it hard to get excited about the likes of Shelvey and Delph (why not try to integrate Berkley from the start?)

Nearly HT and 0-0. More worryingly the football is bland, boring and toothless.

Bring on Kane and Walclam, play 442 and look dangerous.

Not a problem. The sooner Hodgasaurus leaves the better.

a new manager isn't going to fix the English lack of savvy and bring in the required exploitive mindset for international football

it's not a player A is better than player B problem, it's a collective mental weakness imo

Well England have been a bit brick. Shelvey has looked out of his depth tonight, whilst only Rooney from the front guys has looked convincing.

At times when we have the ball we look clueless. I do wonder about what Hodgson actually drills them on.

It's lovely to see how the crowd are lifted when Harry is brought on. He really is a fresh connection between the fans and players.
