Hugo Lloris

He tends to do this, few games in a row where he throws a couple in.

He’s been very good this season still

Id like to think by year two of his new contract we have a plan in place for his replacement, ideally Leeds go down and we sign Meslier

The great save was great, but it doesn’t make up for the spill, it’s not just the goal conceded, it’s the reduction in confidence if those around him.

I’d give up the spectacular for more reliability.
He killed us against Wolves as well. We are at a bit of a crossroads, he is getting older and he does make those kind of silly mistakes yet he always makes game saving ones as well. I think it's time to seriously challenge his place. His form under Jose lickec when Gazza was a proper competitor.

I’ve always wondered, how does a captain inspire when they’ve made a basic error…

We do need to find a keeper who is good enough to offer him competition for his place.

That would be good, but I don't think it should be a priority. We have several areas where upgrades are more pressing both first team and rotation/backup options.

Think Lloris will be fine for at least another season. Replacing a long time excellent first choice goalie is always difficult.

Finding a player to compete, succession planning with a younger goalie either to go out on loan or play in cup games and just waiting until a replacement is needed and sign the best player possible are all viable strategies imo.

I think he does it in part through mental strength. He's always had those fairly high profile errors in him at a somewhat too high rate. He's never seemed to be affected by it afterwards. In that he's the polar opposite to Homes who would be fantastic, make one error and crumble.

Seeing as he's our long term captain and seems very highly regarded within the club I can only assume he inspires through that mental strength and not letting errors cause follow up mistakes. That should at least be inspirational, particularly when we're seemingly willing to accept risk and mistakes.

Some of our other newer players are similar it seems. Romero and Bentancur spring to mind. Some of our longer term players too, particularly Kane, but others too.

It's a kind of mindset, inspiration I hope spreads in the team.

Clawing back the lead, going right up and attacking with confidence and belief after having conceded what could have been a crushing late equaliser against City can be seen as an example of that on a team level imo.
