Hugo Lloris

All keepers make mistakes even the great ones, but Lloris is making far more then he used to and as a ex defender i would hate to have to play in front of a keeper who you can not trust. Not excusing our CBs but knowing that you have no idea if you keeper is coming out for the ball or staying stuck on his line is not going to give confidence.

Can not remember him having such a poor season as he has this year.

As a fan of Hugo I sadly have watched him becoming more and more erratic in his work of late.
Our CB’s and goalkeeper work as a team and look increasingly very nervous and thus vulnerable.

I think that's a bit harsh. @Bedfordspurs is right, up to 6 or 7 games ago, I thought he was having a great season. And he'd been excellent at the back end of last year after a couple of dodgy seasons before that. The mistake at Palace wasn't as bad as it looked but it was his mistake and probably the first big one he made this season. Since then, he's looked ropey time and time again. I remember pointing out how good he had been halfway through the season and one or two posters said he was one of the beneficiaries of the ultra defensive system Jose had implemented. I didn't buy it at the time but they look like they were right.

I still have confidence in Hugo but it's starting to feel that it's borne out of loyalty more than genuine expectation at this point.

I am not sure i agree that he was fine earlier this season but maybe i am being over harsh on him, but he has looked far worse then previous season and is nailed to his line on far to many occasions and flaps at the ball far more often then a top keeper should be doing. I really hope that Poch gives him a chance to move back to France in the summer.

As was i, i have said on here before that he is the 3rd best i have seen in our shirt ( after Jennings and Clem) but he is really dropping in his standards.

I think it’s a team problem who look more nervous incase they let a goal in rather than focusing on beating the opponents by scoring more goals!

To me, he's hard to judge

- Pre-injury he was a bit poor, looked on decline, had a few gaffs including on international duty
- He was out with injury and came back much better, looked the part for a good run
- He's regressed again in last few months

The point above I have noticed as well, he was our sweeper keeper for the early part of his time here, now he sits on the line even when the option is there for him to come out to claim early, take pressure off the defenders (who generally are brick in the air)

Is this orders? has he changed? because his game is certainly worse for it.

The main problem is him being stuck to his line. He doesn't take any pressure off the defence by coming and taking balls that he should.
To me, he's afraid of a collision and injuring himself again. He should've been out punching the ball clear if not catching it.
If that meant colliding with Antonio he should have taken the hit.

Mistakes on shot-stopping are also creeping in and that was his one strength. Without that he's nothing to offer.

Interesting point that. For years before anyone else was doing it, Hugo would charge out of the box to cut out danger particularly when he first came to us. To the extent everyone thought he was nuts. He hasn’t done it for a long time.

Yes he has and i have said before only Jennings and Clemence have been better then him for us, however like all players they fade and Lloris is doing just that.

Despite Hugo's recent gaffes he's still in the 92nd percentile for shot stopping over the last year (top row). But he's in the 4th percentile for claiming crosses (3rd from bottom row)

Whereas Pope is in the 97th percentile for shot stopping, and the 99th for claiming crosses. Get him in!

Doesn't really say much, Ian walker was a clown in goal, Robinson was steady but would hand some proper gaffs, Gomes was world class on his day and dross the following week.

Lloris was a good keeper but now looks like he isn't up to it. Hopefully he wins a trophy this year with us and is moved on with Henderson coming in to replace him.

A slight improvement this season after his sweeper keeper stats literally dropped off a cliff. It does make me wonder if this gradually disinclination for Lloris to leave his area was a part cause of our defensive frailities as we relied heavily on him to mop up any balls played over the top. Or is it a lack of trust in his defence that made him sit on his line more often? Either way it does support the argument that lloris no longer plays the way he did at his very best and maybe even suggests hes no longer capable? [emoji848]

I don’t think he can tract quick enough anymore the way he sets up
His feet positions don’t help him at all
He always used to be in his toes bad now he is on his heels
It’s the De Gea style of play which means tone better placed to save shots but you do t command anything in your box
