Hugo Lloris

Sorry but imo Robbo's distribution was way overrated. Okay once in a blue moon his massive kicks would lead almost direct to a goal but 90% of the time they were swallowed up by the opposition defenders who were then able to launch another assault on our goal. I used to ACHE for a goalie who would throw it out wide to one of our own.

I disagree with this.

I think you do Friedel a great discredit. If Lloris is as good as Friedel in his prime, then I'll be delighted because IMHO in his prime Friedel is in the top three keepers I've seen grace the Premiership (The great Dane and Cech pre-headgear being the other two). Yes Friedel's prime is 8 to 10 years ago but he was still a great keeper and is still a very good keeper now.

Joe Hart, Edwin Van Der Saar, David S****n???

Not being funny, but he picked Naughton out just shy of the half way line and hugging the touchline on a dime. It's been a very long time since I saw a Spurs keeper able to do that. Shame he was being pressed as people would have been whooping if Naughton had managed to pass.
Dont let facts get in the way and all that..

Have to agree with MK on Lloris' distribution yesterday, which didn't impress me much. That said, I do think he had a good debut, and was superb coming out for crosses and corners. Looked very confident and offensive in a non-reckless way. I think he will be a massive player for us.

Joe Hart? Do me a favour, he has potential but is highly overrated. Doesn't command his area well enough and is often out of position.

Nowhere near being in the top 3 keepers in history of the premier league.

He'd be at the bottom end of a Spurs current top 3.

So why wasnt he playing in a big club at that time?

He never got tested at the top level, Champions League and International games. If he was that good, Friedel would not have been playing for Blackburn for that long.

I was going to laugh my arse off at that comment from Scara, but thinking about it it's probably not far off, if you consider Lloris numero uno, then Hart is No.2 and Friedel a not too distant at all No. 3. Think that says more about the quality of keeper we have now rather than a put down to Hart.

I also still rate Gomes, but that's another story, I won't go there.

Was thinking about Cudicini this morning actually, the guy has barely played a game in the last 10 years, what motivates a player like that? Obviously it's great for Spurs as we have a quality back up keeper, but for him, surely he'd want to drop down to a mid table team or somerthing and be 1st choice and actually play each week?

I think it was a very promising debut, but I still think it will be Friedel between the sticks on Sunday? I think AVB is being very careful with how he intergrates Lloris into the "English" way of playing. The real acid test for Lloris will be EPL games against teams like Stoke City, as I would like to see how he copes with the aerial threat and jostling he will be subjected to?

All of the signs are good, but lets not get carried away.

Liked the way he came off his line last night - was a breathe of fresh air. Also through his distribution was decent. Think he should play v QPR on Sunday - not that Brad has done anything wrong however think its better than Lloris builds an understanding with the CBs asap rather than Freidel getting used to Verts/Caulker and then the keeper changing. It would be tough on Freidel however football is no place for sentimentality and Freidel wont be our keep next year so would replace him anow and start developing a solid back unit

You talk about him like he's a kid! He;s an estabished international with one of the top 10 countries globally and has lots of experience for his age!

Also, maybe it was the camera angles at the Lane, but Lloris seemed bigger than I had previously thought / seen from Lyon and France games.

I just want Lloris to be as successful for us as Van der Saar was for ManYoo and if this means that we phase Lloris into the team over a month or two, then it shows some good management from AVB and his coaching team.

i'm not sure why people are mentioning van der saar as a great keeper?

the irony is that people mention him as though he was on the same planet as keepers like shmiechel....
