It’s worth itThis. He did not cost us anything in the first place, so I definitely see us taking the gamble that he might just change his mind next summer,

I'm not concerned about the summer, i think he stays and then if we take steps forwards with the right manager next season then he will sign a new deal - if not he walks away at the end of the current deal.
So in a round about way he will be leaving next summer ... with much unsettling throughout the season ... not what the new manager needs tbh
Didn't effect Modric, don't expect it to effect Kane either - having 20-30 goals is something the manager will need...
I think he'll buckle at Chelsea's £100m (maybe including a couple of decent p/x players)I can’t see levy selling
I think he would rather keep him and take the loss
Do you think we’ll get anyone in as good as Frazier Campbell was as a replacement for Berbatov?I think he'll buckle at Chelsea's £100m (maybe including a couple of decent p/x players)

If he sells Kane to Chelsea he better book a one way ticket to Barbados to live with Uncle Joe.
Ouch. Without Kane's 24 point contribution we'd be level with Everton. I know it's not that straightforward, but man has he carried us this season.
As you say, this sort of analysis overlooks the fact that if we didnt have Kane we'd have spent the £120m-£150m fee on perhaps a top class attacker and top CB, and they'd have offset all/part of the loss of Kane
For sure, although there's no guarantee the player(s) brought in instead would've worked as well as Kane does for us - or even at all. We don't exactly have a great track record for expensive signings. But of course his replacement/the rest of the team would've chipped in a fair bit of Kane's goals, but I also think it's pretty certain we'd be mid table this season without him.
