Guglielmo Vicario

I see Vic getting a lot of stick on X after today. I'm not his biggest fan, and think we should upgrade if we can - but what did he do wrong today? Was he that bad for the goal?

He should've caught the ball from the initial shot. If he felt he couldn't catch it he needs to push it wide and out for a corner, not back into Palhinha
Just came here to post the same.

What happened to make some goalkeepers, particularly Vic, never catch the ball? When it happened I thought that’s the type of save Thorsvedt would have routinely held two handed..

He could have done better
But he was also reacting to their “shot”. These do happen to every keeper
The thing I don’t get is the comments about him dealing with corners. He caught everyone that came into the 6 yard area

He still shrinks when it comes to corners as well. Seldom comes for the ball.
I haven't seen that much of Kinksy, but from what I've seen he doesn't really look like a keeper who is that commanding of his box? Not writing him off because I've not seen enough of him, but from what I've seen I'm not convinced. Reminds me of when Lloris was off form/injured and Gazza came in and many were suggesting he was better but after a run of games was clear he was inferior.

I do get the feeling it's more likely we would have to find another number 1 rather than hope Kinksy steps up. But that's based on the few appearances I've seen, so I'm happy for people to argue against and say he's potentially good enough....

I feel the opposite. Kinsky does command crosses much better and is generally better on the ball. At the end of the day, I trust the coaches to make the call, seeing those players in training and on match days. But I have felt Vicario is a weak link for some time.

Only going by what I've seen which is not that much - if what you're saying is the consensus then fantastic. Either way, the GK position really does need looking at....

Kinsky is weak on any shots from range though
That needs a lot of work for him to get up to vics level there
And ultimately that’s his job

Yeah you may be right. But as @harr1984 suggests, if Kinsky is not the option, it doesn't make the need to replace Vic any less unfortunately.
I think there is an over reaction on Vic myself
He is as good as any keeper at what matters (normally). Shot stopping
But, to be fair, the goal last week and yesterday were ones he should have done better at
I can’t remember any other goals like last week from him
And I’ve seen many many keepers do what he did yesterday
Kinsky will take over at some point IMO but not yet
