Guglielmo Vicario

I think there is an over reaction on Vic myself
He is as good as any keeper at what matters (normally). Shot stopping
But, to be fair, the goal last week and yesterday were ones he should have done better at
I can’t remember any other goals like last week from him
And I’ve seen many many keepers do what he did yesterday
Kinsky will take over at some point IMO but not yet

Can’t agree with that at all. He is nowhere near the level of the top keepers in the league.

I think that goal was as much on Palhinha as Vicario, he was asleep, on his heels, not ready to deal with a ball.

And, his body shape, facing his own goal, kids get coached to turn their body to face where they should be playing.

Maybe
I just just they are goals that happen to every side
The biggest worry was our lack of creativity

I don’t agree
We will see if the club do I guess
As I said last year he was statically the best keeper in the league on shots saved, gaining points. That matters

Stats are helpful but I prefer the good old fashioned eye test. He has a panicky nature about him. I wasn’t overly impressed with him in the final in Bilbao, he was lucky VDV bailed him out. We’ve had far worse keepers than him but he’s also very upgradable and we should look to do so if we want to go to the next level which is top 4 and ultimately challenging for titles.

As I say, we shall see what happens
He was bailed out in the final. He made a mistake
But he also makes saves and that’s what he is there for

he was less than 3 metres away and the last thing any player thinks is the goal keeper passing it to his body instead of wide out of play

the larger context of the stats we conceded 65 goals and the second worst of the clubs that did not get relegated
Man U with oh-no-no conceded 11 less goals
not to say that all the goals conceded makes vicario a bad keeper as we defend as a team... but he didn't look convincing nor inspiring confidence in a lot of games

It's the PL, every player should constantly be anticipating the ball coming to them and knowing what their top three options are when it does.

He's too panicky; when you want the keeper to be a solid, reliable type who calmly catches it or dives on it or palms it wide for a corner, he will claw at the ball and scratch it back into play.
Watching him is like watching a cat fighting a tennis ball, super-fast, wild moves.

A few times it has been very easy to palm the ball wide for a corner but he scrapes it back into a defender or attacker.

He still shrinks when it comes to corners as well. Seldom comes for the ball.
Thank GHod for that! The way most teams set up at corners and long throws, keepers rarely have a chance to get past all the players blocking the path. Just look at Pope today. Tried to come out and punch, was never getting anywhere near the ball, and it's an easy goal. Stay on the line and it would have been an easy save.

Fair indeed, but I think we at least have to have the conversation, if only to re-evaluate and come to conclusions (whatever they are).
No issues with that
Although the propel criticising him are still focussing on his game a year ago
Yesterday was a goal form a corner but nothing to do with him not coming or “flapping”

He has many strengths of course.
He also has flaws. He often doesn't get decisive touches from set-pieces, he doesn't have a great record in scuffling balls out of the danger zone in scrappy moments, and his kicking needs continual work; that ball he played at the end of the match (which ended up with Odobert standing still for 20 seconds with it) was poor.

He has flaws like all players
