Guglielmo Vicario

Looks like a top level modern goalkeeper. And a good fit with the squad. Loved that he was encouraging Destiny after the loss of possession. Right up to Romero after the own goal to.

I'm sure he can point and shout if needed, but that's not always what's needed.

Happy that he didn't but refs, and especially VAR, should be judging actions rather than outcomes. The fact that Nketiah missed Vicario's leg or that Vicario got his studs out of the turf in time to avoid a legbreaker should be irrelevant. It was reckless and dangerous even if damage didn't happen. This is the strength of the bunker system in rugby - an understood review period for dangerous actions (not goals or tries). Foul given but then a proper review within a stated time frame (doesn't have to be 8 minutes) and a decision taken objectively rather than emotionally or subjectively. Can use a sin bin or not, but a meaningful review within 3 or 5 minutes means the player is removed from the game fairly quickly if deemed necessary but not sent off prematurely.

The difference is in rugby the player will have been yellow carded already and therefore off the pitch.

Imagine in this scenario Nketiah gets a yellow, so is allowed to continue playing then a couple of minutes later he scores or assists. A few minutes after that (so 5 minutes after the foul and yellow) the VAR says no that should be red, what happens to the goal he scored / assisted?

it could only work with a sin bin scenario IMO

Yeah I agree but surely even that is better than the current situation where he gets a yellow and scores and nothing else happens even though all reviews show he should have been off.

At least then he is out of the game and the team is down to 10 men.

The impact would vary obviously depending on the player (is Nketiah ever really going to score that many?) and the time in the match but surely getting the decision right in a match even if there is some issues within the timing is better than not, and we now have that ability.

Sin bin is the right step IMO, I don''t get the reluctance by FIFA/UEFA/FA.

Agreed. Quite early on in VAR it was City at Liverpool and there was a handball in Liverpool's box I think by TAA, wasn't given and Liverpool broke and scored and of course they didn't pull it back for a pen and chalk the goal off. And that was a much quicker time frame than the one you suggested above.
 
A very good signing and still young for a keeper, and he does his share of commanding his defenders in front of him.
