Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

I think Bale and AVB have probably had a discrete chat or two over the summer. Bale saying its not time to talk and AVB echoing that saying Bale hasn't spoken....

How's this: Bale to AVB - I can earn £10m a year, CL etc. AVB, well look, we'll play it cool. Don't alienate anyone. We'll leave you be until the window shuts. If you're still with me, no one has been offended and we can kick on.

In short they have a monastic pact - As thick as monks - Never thought I write that on a spurs forum )

Re: Gareth Bale

I really don't think money is an issue for Gareth. He is already a millionaire and if he stays at Spurs he will earn millions more this season alone.

But at the same time he has an agent and his agent is no mug. That is a good thing for Gareth.

Re: Gareth Bale

AVB: “We are aware that Real Madrid are interested. But it doesn’t mean that we are willing to negotiate about him.”

Re: Gareth Bale

Forget great player, lets just concentrate on creating great teams from now on.

Sick to death of this now, I too harboured a hope that Bale would stay but sadly it looks like those 'lovely' arseholes from AS and Marca were right all along and what's worse is that this really is just a publicity stunt by their corrupt president and the club's desperate stance to out do their rivals in the commercial side of the game. If Ronaldo had moved back to Utd I would fully understand but this has been perfection straight from the word go, in fact I would go as far to say that this has been as bad or worse than the Berbatov saga and I hate to say it but NOTHING predicts the future better than the past and sadly I have constantly had this horrid gut feeling that we'll see a repeat of the summer of 2008, when it wasn't until January that we started rebuilding all of which came after the wonderful 2 pts from 8 games, took a while for very good signings to gel etc.

Sorry to be an absolute misery to other posters but fudge me I am sick and tired of this fudging brick, third year in a row of...

'PLAYER WANTS TO GO, NOW!'

'PLAYER: I'LL NEVER PLAY FOR THEM AGAIN'

'PLAYER GOES ON STRIKE'

'PUNDIT: SPURS NEED TO GET REAL AND LET HIM GO!'

Proof or no proof they just keep it coming don't they?!?!?

](*,)

I feel your pain buddy...I really do but regardless of whether he stays or goes I will try and cheer you up a bit with the following......

GK-Lloris - World class gk - would not swap for anyone - Hart is as good but has been below par for a while.....
Def-probably the area that would rule us out of title challengers however Verts is class - Kabs is on the mend still strong need another young cb....
Mid-effin amazing - blend of everything you could wish for - if dembele can learn to release a pass at the correct time then wow.....what a midfield
Att-Bobby soldier with options to bring on ade or defoe at present. if we can get Lennon scoring again we are in business.

We have a slick transfer machine with Baldini now - we have made 4 excellent signings before game 1 - Arse fans would love to say this.......either way the point is IF Bale goes don't expect us to do nothing.....we will either get someone in before or after the sale. Chadli is a talented lad. no he isn't Bale's level but don't think we are not trying to negate the loss.......our interest for Lamela looks serious and what a signing he could be.

Even if you took Bale out of our squad know I can never remember us looking stronger......once the new midfielders gel.....Sandro gets up to speed and Holtby shows his credentials we are gonna look unstoppable at times this season I firmly believe this.........Yes Bale may go but it might not stop this from being one of our most successful transfer windows ever.......

Look at the evidence Lewis/Levy/Baldini/AVB mean business this year and have proved it.....regardless of Bale money would any of us have believed we would have spent 27m on Soldado??????? we have addressed weaknesses but there is still work to do.....AVB nearly has the personnel in place of how he wants us to play.....

so BAE will go - rose is the type of lb AVB wants but if we get contrao then that would be an upgrade. A young cb on the way to help with kabs & verts injuries.
possibly another winger and another striker with ade moving on.......

most of the puzzle is done just missing a few pieces........

sorry about the long winded post.....just don't throw yourself off the nearest cliff if Bale goes........we march on because were spurs........we have Baldini on the warpath and will strengthen best we can.....have faith I have.......unless we get dingdonged 5-0 at palace then we can find a cliff together...

Re: Gareth Bale

Very nice positive post nigey!

Not always easy in a situation like this, but it's important to stay positive. We have Gareth Bale, either we get to keep him or we get tons of money for him. That seems like a win-win to me although there are some short term issues.

For a club our size if we have world class players there will be bigger clubs in for them. The way the sporting media works these days there will be this kind of pressure on the club when that happens. The alternative, not having world class players, is a lot worse.

This (transfer window) too shall pass.

Last one there is a rotten egg \o/

Cheers fella, much a appreciated.

Ever since the day we signed Kranjcar I have felt it in my loins that Spurs could one day win the league. Call it gut feeling or delusion, I genuinely believe that this club can go on to be bigger than it's ever been before which considering the 60s is saying something.

As the saying goes you build a team from the back and my word we started very well with Lloris, I completely agree with you the guy is incredible I've never seen anyone own their 6 yard box like he does, unforgettable.

If Bale goes, then he goes but with or without him I agree we can build something very special, a squad with depth greater than the Atlantic ocean itself and one that can finally challenge for the league.

Great post. COYS!

Re: Gareth Bale

There is absolutely no way that the manager, AVB, has not spoken to a key member of his staff, Gareth Bale. I'm certain AVB knows exactly what Bale's position is. The quoted comment reads as if AVB was referring to what the media knows or doesn't know, and then after saying "we" corrected himself to "you".

Re: Gareth Bale

Having read the quotes from AVB saying Bale will miss the first three games I wish we would get rid now. The papers seems convinced we've been offered 100 million Euros but Levy wants 100m pounds. Don't know if that's true but I would take 5-10 million less now and get the replacement in. We were awful at the beginning of that season with Modric wanting to leave and refusing to play and awful when Harry's head was turned by England that same season. These mental aspects can take the energy out of a team. I think we need to start at full pelt and without distractions.

Re: Gareth Bale

Yes, probably taken from a pre-Crystal Palace press conference today.

“His mental state nobody knows because the player doesn’t speak,” said Villas-Boas. “The only thing that we are able to see or you [media] are able to see is the player arriving in and out of the training ground." - So much for any kind of special relationship between Bale and AVB.

 Bale is gone. Get used to it

Re: Gareth Bale

I reckon he is going...

Just look at the recent events:-
* Roberto Soldado (£26m),
* Paulinho (Corinthians, £17m),
* Nacer Chadli (FC Twente, £7m)
* Bale sitting out 'injured'
* Levy still looking to buy more players

In my opinion Levy is getting ready to sell but not making obvious to prevent other clubs from knowing he has a large pool of money to spend, preventing them asking for more. By doing what he is doing he is keeping clubs unsure and so keeping the prices of potential targets realistic. If he sells Bale near the end of the transfer window it works out best for the club.

We didn't spend like this when we sold Berbatov, Modric for huge profits and we didn't buy like this when we made champs league in 2009/10 so why now all of a sudden?

Re: Gareth Bale

The sooner Madrid cough up £90m the sooner he can leave. I have had enough.

Jeez, don't let the rags and SSN get to you.

there's no way in the world we should be 'getting rid' or wishing our best player should leave.

Re: Gareth Bale

Because we are the right position to spend lots of money. We have a top manager, who seems to be working well with his Director of Football. We have the set up in place that Levy wanted, and we are buying the right players. Seems like we definitely have a strategy in place to climb to the top.

That's not to say that we are going to keep Bale, I haven't talked with him so I don't know his future. But we have an excellent system in place, regardless of Bale staying or going and so the club probably feels like more money can be spent.

Re: Gareth Bale

Madrid-based daily Marca, often described as the mouth piece of Real Madrid, believe a deal between Real Madrid and Spurs is close over Gareth Bale.

They suggest Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy does not want to prolong the saga any longer as it has become uncomfortable for the players and coach Andre Villas-Boas.

Levy has, according to Marca, accepted Bale will leave White Hart Lane and is now simply negotiating over how to receive the world record fee.

Real Madrid’s original offer was for 85 million pounds (97.8 million euros) to be paid over four years. Levy wants this in one go on completion of Bale’s transfer.

Florentino Perez, the Real Madrid president, is willing to raise their offer to 100 million pounds (117 million euros) to be paid in six instalments.

Just as they did with Luka Modric, and in a way that is common in football transfers, Real Madrid hope to pay in as many instalments as possible. They did however sign Cristiano Ronaldo in one payment, which is what Daniel Levy is hoping to achieve with the Bale transfer.

If Levy wants the full payment in cash, he will have to lower his demand from 85 million pounds, say Marca.

Intriguingly, Guillem Balague in AS on Friday morning suggests Levy is simply waiting on Real Madrid’s next offer and is happy to drag the deal out until the last day of the transfer window on September 2, 2013.

Balague adds that Tottenham’s position is clear: Gareth Bale will only leave for a fee of 120 million euros.

I love how Marca think that Real are the ones in the position of power in these discussions. What that should say is "If Real think Spurs will give an interest free loan to a corrupt, bankrupt club bankrolled by a corrupt, bankrupt bank in a corrupt bankrupt country they can go f*ck themselves."
