Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Tottenham needs the media circus right now...

This year the NBC starts sending EPL, thats alot of new supporters in need to find a club, and what is the team they hear alot of now?
Tottenham....

If we can keep Bale after the window, I think we can make alot of money on that.

Exactly. If we keep Bale it would be the equivilant of finding a £100million gold mine and having your dodgy business partner losing out on it due to a legal dispute of who found it.

Or maybe there's a better, much better, analogy, ah well!

Re: Gareth Bale

Yes, probably taken from a pre-Crystal Palace press conference today.

“His mental state nobody knows because the player doesn’t speak,” said Villas-Boas. “The only thing that we are able to see or you [media] are able to see is the player arriving in and out of the training ground." - So much for any kind of special relationship between Bale and AVB.

I don't know maybe AVB respects or understands Bale's monastic position. When the time is right, he'll bring him back into the fold - if RM don't stump up £90m in the mean time.

It's the lack of communication that I am referring too. If AVB is telling the truth then what he is saying is that he isn't even speaking to Bale at the moment.

But what's better, someone badgering you "Come on Gareth mate play for us!" or simple respect and calm?

Re: Gareth Bale

I'm pretty sure he means Bale hasn't spoken to the media. He's effectively saying don't presume to know what Bale is thinking because he hasn't said anything to you. Obviously AVB has discussed stuff with him, as he was pictured doing so during training.

Unless he is lying (possible) he wasn't just referring to the media but also himself/Spurs.

Re: Gareth Bale

Didnt like a couple of those qoutes one bit... Ive been positive to Bale staying all summer, but I dont like that they dont speak to each other - if AVB is quoted right. Looks like we are buying now for selling Bale close to deadline day. Right way to do it, just hope we get the players in that could take us at least one step forward. It would kill me if Gareth goes now, without any new incomings.

Re: Gareth Bale

Communication is vital. But respect and space can be too. When the time is right AVB can get Bale back in. But for now, what could be worse than someone trying to talk you round? Let him be until the window shuts. If Bale is still here, I have every confidence in AVB to bring Bale back to his best, and maybe even better than he was.

I think he was just correcting himself. He is portugese after all.

Re: Gareth Bale

There's a combination of stuff getting lost in translation, misquoting and lack context going on here. They say AVB is having to endure the silent treatment from Bale which is supposedly backed up by that quote. I simply don't believe that for one second. The question that was asked and how he actually answered it would tell a different story.

Re: Gareth Bale

Forget great player, lets just concentrate on creating great teams from now on.

Sick to death of this now, I too harboured a hope that Bale would stay but sadly it looks like those 'lovely' arseholes from AS and Marca were right all along and what's worse is that this really is just a publicity stunt by their corrupt president and the club's desperate stance to out do their rivals in the commercial side of the game. If Ronaldo had moved back to Utd I would fully understand but this has been perfection straight from the word go, in fact I would go as far to say that this has been as bad or worse than the Berbatov saga and I hate to say it but NOTHING predicts the future better than the past and sadly I have constantly had this horrid gut feeling that we'll see a repeat of the summer of 2008, when it wasn't until January that we started rebuilding all of which came after the wonderful 2 pts from 8 games, took a while for very good signings to gel etc.

Sorry to be an absolute misery to other posters but fudge me I am sick and tired of this fudging brick, third year in a row of...

'PLAYER WANTS TO GO, NOW!'

'PLAYER: I'LL NEVER PLAY FOR THEM AGAIN'

'PLAYER GOES ON STRIKE'

'PUNDIT: SPURS NEED TO GET REAL AND LET HIM GO!'

Proof or no proof they just keep it coming don't they?!?!?

Except that the bolded bit is not what's happening. The team is building (I won't say "re-building") and, at least on paper, is improved, whether or not Bale stays.

True. I just had to post that, been very calm recently about the speculation, if he goes, he goes, nothing I can do but Christ I literally reached my limit halfway through that Telegraph article.

Like I said, lets focus on building great teams, winning trophies. One thing I will add to that Berbatov saga on a positive note is that I feel in the long run it was a big blessing in disguise, whilst we failed to replace him we were able to address other areas such as a ball winning midfielder and strength in depth in the squad (Kranjcar, Bassong atc), I personally feel sometimes that if it wasn't for the cash raised from both Berba and Keane I don't think we would've qualified for the Cl in 2010 nor be in the position we're in now.

Re: Gareth Bale

I actually felt my stomach flop a bit reading the part about him not talking. I don't know why but I had somehow tricked myself into thinking that this was nothing to do with Bale and was all RM now I'm not so sure. I think I need a cry to be honest.
