Spurs coach Sherwood 'one million per cent' certain Bale will stay at Spurs

Tim Sherwood is confident Gareth Bale will remain at Tottenham and not leave White Hart Lane this season.

Bale had his best season to date and landed a host of individual awards but just missed out on helping Spurs make the top four.

Real Madrid are leading the chase for the forward’s signature with the club unlikely to listen to offers below £60m.

But Spurs coach Sherwood says the Welshman is happy in north London and is confident he will be at the club next season.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: 'Gareth’s fantastically happy at Tottenham.

'I see him around the training ground every day. He’s got a good relationship with the manager and loves his team-mates. They show him the respect that he deserves and he gives it back to them.

'I don’t see him banging the door down trying to get a move. I believe one million per cent he will stay.

'There will be a lot of clubs wanting to take Gareth but he’s 23 and has good advisors.

'There’s a time for him to go overseas or to another Premier League club but I think he needs to stay here.'

It seems every player and coach at Spurs have started to talk about Bale's future. Don't be surprised if all the backroom staff, tea lady and the mascot join in as well. Now you know why some clubs ban their staff from talking to the media.

Re: Gareth Bale

What do you know Steff? Seriously. If Bale ends up being sold you're going to look a bit of a tit.

why is he going to look like a tit? most of the rumours out there ARE total rubbish, you would actually have to be a tit to believe even most of them

re hashed quotes from earlier in the window - it's even got the same headline as when they first appeared, they just don't try anymore do they?

Re: Gareth Bale

I think it is unrealistic that anyone interesting would offer £80m.

Wouldn't surprise me if that is THFC calling Madrid's bluff and ending this saga.

Re: Gareth Bale

Where does this idea come from?

Not that I don't agree with the general point.. Although you'd like to think we have 2/3 players lined up to spend the Bale money on if/when it arrives (be it this summer or the next), i.e. players we would not otherwise look at due to the cost of their transfer fee/wages.

Nowhere.

ENIC have not taken any money out of the club. We barely pay out dividends on shares.

A scratched record

First saw the headline in today's Eurosports about Sherwood being confident Bale will stay. Daily Mail probably reprinted the old quotes as today's news.

Assume you meant Eurosport reprinted it as today's news, as it first appeared word-for-word in the Daily Mail weeks ago.

On TalkSport's Press Pass this evening, Sky (the agent, not the channel) gave clear ITK hints that whilst Spurs will not sell Bale this window the agent is currently involved in setting up at least one big incoming deal to the club.

'going' to? According to friends (and a couple of family members) I already do look like a tit on a regular basis LOL!!!!

Nope.

Let's be serious, if you were a selling club in this case, why on earth would you tout a figure? 80 million would be worth 50 million by the time everyone else has started tacking on the 'extra' thanks to knowing what you've got. Look at Carroll; Torres went for 50 so Geordies demanded 35...thirty-five MILLION!!!! Please! 15-18 at best. It's s game, and trust me, the people most necessary have already made their minds up.

Re: Gareth Bale

I'm still very confident he'll stay. When you have a big player like Bale what usually happens is the first summer a team shows solid interest in another first off all they sort of test the waters by bigging/ tapping them up. This sets the wheels in motion for them to come back a year later when you haven't achieved what the player wanted (e.g. Luka Modric with no champions league, Fabregas with still no trophy) and know they're going to get them. I think this summer will turn Bale's head a bit but he'll want to give it one more season at least. If this time next year we haven't got Champions League football then I can't see how we can keep him after that.

Re: Gareth Bale

But you still dodged the question..

After watching a few episodes of modern sherlock holmes with cumberbatch as sherlock i feel I have heightened intelligence for at least a few hours.

After careful analysis of THC Steff's post's I have come to the conclusion that THFCsteff is actually none other than Daniel Levy mascarading as a random positive poster on a spurs forum!!!

Such a sure level of confidence of us hanging on to our crown jewels can only come from the big man himself.........most spurs related I know myself included are papping themselves at Bale moving on .......however steff says 'he's staying' 'dont worry' 'its all good'

Daniel er I mean steff any chance of getting a reduction in price of the spurs printed cat collars in the spurs shop as unfortunaty the spurs has now faded from my cats collars???????

and thanks for all your hard work for thfc over your tenure...I think you have done well......although if you have some spare time would you please consider signing us a decent striker as my partner does not like adebayor as she says no-one should smile so much on the pitch when they are not playing very good.

yours faithfully steff/daniel

nigey.

p.s just for men is on offer at tesco's if your interested.

No mate, I am not Daniel Levy. (I know you're having a laugh, no worries ;) )

It's an interesting place this forum...any confidence shown is slowly assumed to either be an 'inside job' or the work of a madman. I am coming to the conclusion that most people wish to believe the worst at all times. We saw it with AVB early on (when he was getting slaughtered -remember when a few papers said he had 3 games to save his job? Laughable!) and we continue to see it. This is the fuel of summer. tossers like this 'agent' (who is nothing more than an agent of flimflam by the looks of things) spread a whisper and the media perpetrates it because it's the thing to do.

It's interesting to me that nobody seems remotely fudging interested in logic here. Ronaldo and Bale in the same side won't work. Madrid might think they can stack assets, but Bale and his people are smarter than that. Nobody seems remotely interested in entertaining the lack of money in Spain, thus the fact that Madrid won't be able to get big, fat loans like before.

Regardless of what I have, or haven't, heard, there is a track/path of logic here which must make sense to people...and if it doesn't, then I can only assume it is because they wish the worst.

If, as Raboner suggests, I end up looking like a 'massive tit' on glory-glory, I can assure you that it will be the very (and I mean very) least of my worries. Hopefully, it would be the least of yours too...

My old man says it will happen to me too after being let down by Spurs time and time again. I'm determined, however, to remain optimistic for as long as possible

I'm with Steff, Bale isn't going anywhere. He can see AVB's plan coming together and challenging for the title in the next two seasons

Then I must be Donna Cullen.. cos I too am 100% sure its nailed on Bale will still be a Tottenham player come Sept 1st. I have absolutely no fear that he is going anywhere.

we saw it two years ago, even after Levy came out and explicitly said that Modric would not be sold at any price the board was full of posters pulling their hair out at the thought of losing him all summer - now obviously nothing has come out from Levy to the same degree about Bale staying but ive yet to read anything from our end/his camp that suggests he's gonna be looking for a move this summer - and even if he was, id imagine we'd make him stay a further season anyway due to his contract - so im not really sure what people are worried about.
