Exclusive – Les Ferdinand: Gareth Bale could leave Spurs for £80million
By Anton Stanley | Saturday, June 8, 2013
Les Ferdinand has admitted that a huge bid of around £80million could be enough to see Gareth Bale leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The Welshman had a scintillating season last time out netting breathtaking goals and providing match-winning performances as Spurs just missed out on Champions League qualification.
But his form hasn’t gone unnoticed by Europe’s biggest clubs with Real Madrid extremely keen on signing the midfielder.
And Ferdinand, currently a coach at White Hart Lane, reckons that although they are desperate for the player to stay, a big bid would have to be accepted by chairman Daniel Levy.
He told talkSPORT: “I think the club will try everything they can to keep him [Gareth Bale] but, then again, if someone comes in and offers £80million I think everyone is sensible enough to know there is a price for every player.
“It sends out a good message if you’re able to keep your best players.
“Last year we saw Luka Modric leave and if Tottenham do the same this year it just sends out the wrong message.”

How can Ferdinand who is still a coach at Spurs comes out with a statement like that ? You know the media are going to twist his words for their liking. IMO, all those at Spurs should avoid commenting on Bale's future unless if they urge him to stay.
