Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Yes but in my opinion they play with MUCH better players in far superior teams to us. This is why I dont blame Bale wanting to go to the likes of RM. He will be playing with better players thus making him FAR more effective and actually becoming one of the best three players in the world alongside those two.

Some may think going to RM may not be to his advantage but we can never be so sure.

Well of course, goes without saying he'd become a better player at Madrid. Even if he stays here, he will likely improve every season for the next 7 years or so. But I do agree about not blaming him if he did want to leave (as long as he acts professionally), I'd be absolutely gutted of course, but unless some sugar daddy buys us, we're not going to be a perennial CL qualifier. Someone like Bale should be looking to win the thing, not just qualify for it!

I am sure Bale has his own aspirations i.e. playing with better players (read that as better strikers really) and in my view if we overhaul this crass striker situation - he will be even better and will become even more of a star. All eyes will be on him next season thats for sure - whichever team he ends up playing for (which will no doubt be us).

Re: Gareth Bale

We should start a contest to predict the next Real alumnus to comment on Bale. Anticipate seeing them offer him their wives, daughters and sisters.

Now that Suarez has sent Liverpool into despair, I'm fully expecting Steve McManaman, in a misery-seeking-company manner, will pipe up soon urging Bale to leave.

Re: Gareth Bale

As well as dragging us to titles/cups. Bale isn't even on the level of Ronaldo when he was at Man Utd and he's much better nowadays. Ronaldo would score screamers, braces, penalties, free kicks, tap ins.. I can't even rememeber the last tap in Bale scored for us, I imagine he'd be our penalty taker but we haven't had one this year.

So Bale's not good enough now because he only scores worldies? :ross::ross: :-"

(There's a chant in there somewhere).

Yeah, that is EXACTLY what I said.

Re: Gareth Bale

just have to see how things pan out....

mumorn i think your great but wrong on your previous post regarding bale's limitations... imo the only thing you can level at the guy is a weak right foot..

what is it about left footed players??????? always seems to be more magical when a left footer hits a screamer.

I reckon if bale stays he needs to imitate R Carlos free kick technique from 30 yards plus.

rest of the prem would breath easy if we lost bale. we must keep him - get rid of the deadwood and put abit more quality round the lad.

I think his right foot is pretty good. He's scored plenty of good goals with his right foot (Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Norwich to name a few). I don't really see a problem with it. A lot of the Prem breathed easy when we lost King, VDV and Modric yet we were still right up there. We'll survive without Bale.

True. To be honest, I think any damage from Bale's potential move away will be directed at the image of the club when competing for the players we want to sign. They all would prefer to play with Bale, not replace him.

I think that would be the only problem if we sell Bale .. "the image of the club". We'll once again be known as a team that sell their best talents because we can't compete.

Re: Gareth Bale

Or we are simply selling an extraordinary player at an inflated price in order to fund our ability to compete?

Bar the sugar daddy clubs you can count on one hand those that will never have to sell.

Re: Gareth Bale

are people really trying to downplay the possible departure of Gareth Bale?

I read a few posts about how we got over the departure of Berbatov but we really didn't. I mean eventually we did but at the time we struggled very badly without him and faced had a relegation battle. Luka we were always going to be ok because that type of player is not a necessity in this league (i've said this for a very long time).

The potential loss of Bale would be absolutely devastating. People assume we're simply going to spend the cash on a few good players and everything will be fine but it doesn't exactly work like that. The last time we bought a load of new players and threw them all in the first X1 was the 08/09 season and it was an absolute disaster because you can't simply just buy a bunch of good players and except to play as a team from the jump.

Let's be honest here, there wasn't a team in this league that relied on a player like we did Bale last season. I feel without Bale we'd have barely scraped top 10.
