Thats bananas. He should have split before they caught him...

Re: Gareth Bale

are we debating whether or not that thing was a dive?

clearly bale was trying to get a penalty

Of course we are. He could fall over with no player within 5 yards of him and people would still argue it's not a dive.

One thing about that dive that hasn't really been talked about, Bale I believe could have actually tried to move his left leg around the other player's leg, but he chose to leave it there deliberately to try and win a penalty. And people say it's not cheating when he did it before because it wasn't in the penalty area, for me diving is cheating no matter where it is on the pitch.

Re: Gareth Bale

The discussion about diving is boring.

And it's just going endlessly round in circles.

Time to move on.

Re: Gareth Bale

Have it on extremely good authority that under armour are really pushing at Levy to get Bale signed up to a new long term deal.

i was talking about this with someone at the Inter game - dunno if the figures would line up but surely it wouldn't be out of the question for a sponsor (like UA) to cough up a bit of extra cash to ensure a player like Bale gets a big contract. maybe even sponsor him in a deal where the Club don't take a % of the fee on the privo he stays at Spurs - surely having their logo plastered across every Gareth Bale article printed in the next couple of years will be fantastic exposure

I think as long as we make CL we will keep him one way or another...regardless of whatever discussions there were last summer...

Re: Gareth Bale

yea i think he'll stay one way or the other - signing a new contract on the other hand might mean a bigger increase in wages that we wouldn't normally be able to afford

Very good point, there was a commentary somewhere that said if we got CL, we are prepared to offer Bale 40M to stay ..

I heard his Adidas sponsorship if is running up and UA are looking to secure him as their posterboy. He would def be the star of that brand and probably command as much money as he wanted (within reason of course).

Dont forget we will be able to recoup those wages we pay back in transfer fee recieved. I bet thats how levy sees it. Our stock raises and we get to recoup that money back next summer or summer after. He is a 40-50m asset and wont go down unless he doesnt sign a contract.

It is to out MASSIVE advantage that Bale's family and Levy get on so well...as long as the season continues to go well (and finished well) I think we'll be fine.

Gareth Bale's transfer hint puts Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich on red alert

TOTTENHAM star Gareth Bale has stoked the fires of his rumoured White Hart Lane exit by revealing his admiration for a trio of elite European clubs.

Bale is the subject of intense transfer speculation, with rumours indicating that the Welsh flyer could be set for a £50m summer move away from Spurs.

The North London outfit are desperate to keep their in-form forward, although interest from the Premier League and abroad refuses to stop.

And during an interview with French TV show Telefoot, the 23-year-old dropped a hint over his future transfer plans while appearing to rule out Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

"Yes, PSG is a great team," admitted Bale. "They brought great players last summer, even in January. This is a club to follow in the future, a bit like Emirates Marketing Project.

"[But] they are still not at the level of great clubs. Not like Bayern [Munich], Real [Madrid] or Barcelona.

Bale continued by stating his desire to develop as a player, and revealed that while Ryan Giggs was his idol growing up Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the stars of today.

"I have grown up as a person and I hope to keep improving year after year," said Bale.

"Giggs is the hero of my childhood. I watched him play as a kid. But today, Ronaldo and Messi are the players to watch."

Meanwhile, former Tottenham director of football Damien Comolli believes the Welshman will stay at White Hart Lane despite interest from PSG and others.

"I think that if PSG is aware that the player is on the market, I won't be surprised that they do everything in their power to sign him," Comolli told Telefoot.

"But today, there is a 90 per cent chance that he will stay at Spurs. I know the president of Spurs [Daniel Levy] and how he works. Only three or four clubs can afford [Bale] right now."

Seriously, but just where is the hint in that? That Express Journo must get his money easy, when a Newspaper pays him to print crap like that.

It is getting a bit annoying to read about all those speculations on Bale's future. It seems all the English media want to increase their popularity by making wild speculations about Bale.

Looking at his performance against Liverpool, I think it was good for Bale that he didn't score. If he had continue scoring, the media would have increased their attention on him even more.
