Football and money

I have seen “With on-pitch team possession statistics from some of the Big 6 clubs increasingly reaching 70% and more, is this the game that fans really want?” quoted a lot recently as an indicator of the growing disparity between to side. I think a large part of this is a change in tactics to a possession game from a counter punching game, it may be an indicator but it is over simple to us it in isolation.

It's only natural with so many defensive minded managers that are happy to concede possession and wait for a set piece opportunity.

and the opposite where patience and moving the ball to create spaces rather than pace / attacking. It comes up a lot on podcasts and it doesn't mean what they say it does

Anyone know how they count time of possession? When the ball is dead, in preparation for a free kick, corner, throw, etc., is this time excluded from the calculation or counted as possession to the team awarded the kick/throw?

Only in play.

No, because Sky can no longer squeeze them into Sky Super Sunday. It's very inconsiderate.
So you haven't noticed that Super Sunday has morphed into Super Friday, Super Saturday, Super Sunday and Super Monday with four of the Big Six chasing the final two CL places every weekend?

Plus pulling off an even bigger trick, that of turning survival in the PL practically equal to winning the fudging competition.

I guess that those figures are gross and Cristiano Ronaldo will be benefitting from Italy’s new tax laws...

Another iteration and development in the long-mooted Super league plans

Was reading a blog today about some French broadcaster saying that the next round of TV deals was about to be way down.

Would love it if the bubble was about to finally burst.

Hopefully the new stadium debt won’t prevent Levy from improving that ratio to something closer to our peers...

So for us that was for 2017/18 whilst we were at Wembley, prior to some substantial contract increases and the arrival of NDombele and Lo Celso who are presumably also on quite hefty contracts.

Then again our turnover should also have increased massively since, now that we are at NWHL.
