So the prem and football league will change their rules to match? That's a lot of clubs that will have to sell players or fall foul. Leicester, everton, villa, west ham included. Possibly arsenal and liverpool.

It's all still a factor of revenue though. City have proven that if your lawyers are good enough, you can call anything revenue.
They'll certainly try.
They are talking of going further and having a set cap aswell. A club can't spend over a certain amount. How much that is is up for negotiation. But for argument lets say it is £500m. No club can spend over that amount in a season on wages/player amortisation/agents fees.

Funny thing, that came out a week before uefa announced they were doing one. The premier league will follow.
Salary caps will only work if co-ordinated between the big leagues
Uefa are bringing it in. The leagues will follow. The biggest teams in each league aren't going to be subjected to a salary cap while the rest of the league isn't.
Yes. Just look at rugby - the French salary cap is about 75% higher than in England and therefore their squads have far greater depth and quality meaning that they outperform English clubs in European competition
I dont see why the PL would accept a salary cap either. Today the PL is the richest league in the world; why would the PL accept something which risks putting it on a par, or closer to a par, with other leagues? The adage about turkeys and christmas springs to mind

This will provide certainty for clubs in relation to their future financial plans and will ensure the Premier League is able to retain its existing world-leading investment to all levels of the game.
Alongside this, Premier League clubs also re-confirmed their commitment to securing a sustainably funded financial agreement with the EFL, subject to the new financial system being formally approved by clubs.
The League and clubs also reaffirmed their ongoing and longstanding commitment to the wider game which includes £1.6billion distributed to all levels of football across the current three-year cycle.
The Premier League’s significant funding contributions cover all EFL clubs and National League clubs, as well as women and girls’ football, and the grassroots of the game.

Chelsea spends we know about - fair enough, not so much the other end of that table. How is that viable? I guess this sort of nonsense is the basis of the charges they face.
Would not surprise me if City book in 50 £million profit for exporting unsold pies back to the Middle East.

Looking at that Villa could be fudged as well, they really need CL money.
They need to cut their wages or find permanent increases to turnover. No team can bank on cl football (maybe city till their case is heard).
