I thought Clattenburg had a really good game, kept the game going and just told players to get up. Really good game to watch as a neutral
There is a lot of 'second touch is often a tackle' in him.Every time i see Lukaku i think what a brick player he is, got a touch like a elephant.
I enjoyed watching Italy tbh.
Belgium bottled it again.
Conte is a winner. Shows in his teams.
Agreed. Just when they start to win me over with good play, they go back to their usual cynical, cheating selves.
Well done Italy and Conte... Great game and quite the upset. Won't have done Wilmots any good both losing out on points and being showed up as so clearly inferior as a coach.
there is 22 other guys at the tournament with the same problem
Chelsea are going to be a very different animal next season
Let me guess, is Roy the the 23rd who isn't inferior?
nope, 24 managers, less Wilmots and Conte himself

Were they particularly cheating?
I get the cynical comment, but if Dier or Alli did the same thing I'm sure England fans would welcome it. Kane still gets credit for his time wasting against United a couple of years back. I would trust Vertonghen and Alderweireld to be just as cynical as the Italians had the roles been reversed.
Anyone else sick of this type of tactical fouling?

I know its the smart thing to do. Surely the rules need to be changed so that its no longer the smart thing to do. It deserves more than a yellow card.

Or any of the eastern european/Balkan teams.I don't think they are any worse than Uruguay, Brazil, Peru, Agentina etc.
That's ok with a yellow, but there have been situations that warranted 2 or 3 yellows. In one of the first games there was a similar situation; First he grabs the shorts (yellow card offence), looses the grip, and then just chops down the player from behind (another yellow, borderline red), and then finishing off the move by kicking the ball high into the stands (third yellow), and only gets a yellow. He should be off imo.Anyone else sick of this type of tactical fouling?

It turned out to be offside in the end, but Ibra missed a tap in from a yard out.
