what we save in wages we pay for in transfer fees.
is it because wages = expense and transfer fees = depreciation?

Everyone is trying to find the "thing", it's more complicated than that. Everyone is saying Spurs needs to spend more money on wages, every big club in the world (including City) is actively trying to reduce wages.

We have increased on total and net spend, we should increase wages ... but for the right players. None of our players right now are 350K/week players, the majority of the squad are under 25, not sure why it's a surprise our wages are low.

It’s an easy metric to use as a stick
We don’t pay enough
Yet for all the players we have today it’s the highest pay they will have ever earned so far in their careers

Btw, an earlier post but I do take your point about LFC taking time. You'll see a few years between FSG buying the club and them signing Klopp. That's the part that enthuses me though. It's OK for us to have failed with Ange as long as we've got most, if not all, of the other things right. Then we find our Klopp and it could all seem so much different.

The problem with Spurs fans is that they already want to fire people like Munn and Lange. They'll start on Vinai at the first sign of trouble. It's not an evidenced based conversation on those people and that part of the club. With Ange, we see the evidence every week.

IMO with DOF you see the benefit when they leave. It’s what has been done for the future

lol - what DoF? Isn't Munn the Chief Football Officer and Lange the Technical Director. Both would support your theory though. They left their previous employers in a good place and enhanced their reputations.

Lange is the DOF in essence
I know people who know him from
Denmark and that’s how he talks about himself
It’s the same role comoli had but is arguably more of a chief scout role now

I quite like the guy. I would also say that when you build these data models and synthesise them to your club's need you need patience from them. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next data led targets are from him. They tend to be different from what the fan's targets. Great example is Doue. That was a google for me.

Yeah
My nephew was talking to spurs about a job in data last October but they told him to get more experience
He is doing his masters in September at Loughborough and is now talking to Forrest. It’s so key to every club

Yeah, I can remember when data scientists could basically charge what they wanted. There were so few around. Then this new generation started taking degrees in it and we saw more and more in the workplace. I actually did a degree back in the day in Pure Mathematics. I was implementing statistical forecasting packages in companies from 22 years of age before evolving into different career roles. Data is the currency right?

I wish him well. Hope we get him at Spurs so he can be our very own spy in the camp. We need one.

I’ve been saying that data is key for years
My “normal job” is as head of procurement in facilities
If we know a customers asset data we can sell them many things… I’ve done it
But so many companies don’t know what they don’t know and that’s the kicker
In football now everything is monitored
The leader in the field was…. Big fat Sam Allatdyce

The leadership layer - we've not got this one right until recently. We watched as LFC created the perfect leadership layer with all of the right appointments to support the 1st team manager. Every thing they did was to make Klopp successful. We didn't do that.
Hang on a minute Bucko.
We got Arnesen in and Cheatski stole him from us.
We got Comolli in and [he went back to France and then] Liverpool got him. Then Liverpool stole Alex Inglethorpe from us and he became Academy Director.
I think there is another like John McDermott or Chris Davis but some other name I can't think of.
Also we signed Paul Mitchell, who went on to roles with Leipzing (signing Cunha) and is now Saudi Sportswashing Machine Technical Director and just won his first trophy.

So Spurs have done a LOT of work to make this level correct, but it hasn't been smooth sailing

I think Lange has big credit in the bank for bringing in Gray, Bergvall and Kinsky. Maybe Odobert will show in time too.

Munn however seems to have hired a charlatan as coach, not fired the charlatan for a reason no one can explain, and screwed up our medical department. So pretty disastrous really.

Mitchell was the guy who there were rumours wanted cuts of deals to buy ex players or something weird but similar

thats it then - we buy crap players and overpay them
so why can't we attract quality players who are happy with being underpaid?
