Liverpool weren't that patient with Klopp. They'd qualified for CL once in the 4 or 5 seasons before he joined. That was their priority when he came in. First season, he came in midway and got them to a final or two. Second season he made CL. You could see progression throughout his reign.

Had he finished 15th-17th, he'd have been out on his ear quickly.

Could not have said it better myself you are spot on. As for fans complaing its what they do when they are not seeing the results they crave so badly. However as much as they believe [ some of them anyway] they could do better it is just flimflam and when we fail to win they [ some of them anyway] think they could do much better.

We are all football supporters but as time passes there seems to be a section of fans who BELIEVE they could do much better and rant and rave against everything and every manager, chairman and player who is the latest one to get the scorn. Sad really.

I think the important thing to note is that after the failure of the Carroll signing they didn't shy away and say that they can't do that again. Instead they chalked it off as a mistake and carried on unlike us. They were bold with their football operations and have reaped the benefits.

Richarlison, johnson and solanke were hardly cheap. In the last 4 years we have spent on players. More than liverpool.
Not ones i would have chosen. But that is a different argument.

Our transfer fees may have been higher, but i'm sure even using the various sources you shared the other day will show they have spent more in wages when signing their new players.

Meaning, they try more for the players closer to that "ready to go" standard than us...

what we save in wages we pay for in transfer fees.
is it because wages = expense and transfer fees = depreciation?

They made the same mistake with Benteke and Nunez
I do think for gonna play with an element of sophistication, if you keep on signing lampposts your gonna have issues

Even more fuel for my point, they didn't let any of these failed signings affect their strategy, it didn't scare them into deep caution. They still try and sign players, even expensive ones.

I say it because I'm forever reading on her references to the Ndombele and GLC signings as if that's a good reason to never again buy a more expensive player.

Wages are guaranteed
Fees are but can be offset by selling
We don’t pay because the players we have signed havent warranted it IMO
The player in our team who has won the most ….i believe… is Werner and strangely he is one of the highest paid

We spent more on players after GLC and Tanguy
I haven’t seen these references you refer to so would be interested to see them
I have seen people speculate that seeing the big money failures may be why we’re more cautious. We don’t know that for a fact of course as fans
On the pool front they also have successes for the mega fees to counter the failures. They did break world records for a CB and a keeper I believe

Solanke and richarlison were both more expensive. So i'm not sure what argument you are trying to make?

You haven't seen people saying we shouldn't but expensive players due to Ndombele (in particular)? Tbf it may well have been before the last window but it was definitely a reoccurring comment made.

Tbf most big money signing end up being a waste. Look at the list of prems most expensive signings.

It's about getting quality players. Which is where we have been bad at for the last 8 years.
 
We should be just focusing on signing the right players regardless of their cost
As long as we cAn afford them… who cares if they are cheap or expensive
What I’ll add is it’s easier for an expensive player to settle into a stable, successful team rather than that player elevating a side (imo) as the new expensive hero in a struggling side
