Really weird thing for Ade to do...not sure why he's gone and done that? He seems a bit emotional about playing for his country which is fine, and even though I've defended him for his performances this season maybe the fact that he's lacking a bit of confidence is down to the fact that there were unresolved issues with Togo.
Regardless, this is just senseless. It's not just AVB that has said he's ok with it. Freund has as well. So he's basically calling the entire coaching staff liars to the press rather than keeping whatever issue he has in-house. Don't understand why...just when everyone looked to be pulling in the same direction.
You think only having two strikers (one of which has been poor this season) plus Dempsey (who hasn't added much goals to our team) for the entire season is good enough? Not exactly much competition for places is there? Similar to what we had last season when Ekotto had no one to challenge him, unless you're counting Danny Rose.
How people can write this off and say "it's only 3 games" is beyond me considering that we missed out on the Champions League by a point last season.
I already answered this on the previous page, in a post you quoted. Defoe, Ade, Dempsey and Sig. Those 4 this season, last season it was Defoe, Ade, VdV and Saha.
We're not fudging Emirates Marketing Project, we can't have players sitting around doing fudge all on the bench just to cover for someone who is gone for 3 games at most. A bloated squad costs money.
If Sandro picked up a 3 week injury at some point during the window should we look to bring in a replacement in case Parker got injured too?
We have Sig, we have Dempsey, we have Defoe. Two of those players signed under AVB. All of them given games this season, all of them match fit, all of them have performed somewhere between well and brilliantly at points this season.

It's not just for 3 games, sooner or later we are going to need to buy a striker. We've been saying it for 3 and half fudging years!
Emmanuel Adebayor claims he is yet to receive assurances from Andre Villas-Boas that he is fine with the striker playing in the African Nations Cup for Togo.
Adebayor had initially refused to play in the African Nations Cup due to a row over team security and unpaid bonuses, but following talks with the country's president the Tottenham striker now has his heart set on taking part in the tournament.
"That is what he said to the press, but not what he said to me," Adebayor told africatopsports.com in response to Villas-Boas' comments to the media saying he was happy for the striker to go.

Of course ratings arent the be all and end all. Some love him, some hate him, but there is a general consensus emerging that he just hasnt been at the races this season. You can offer all the excuses you like, but it isnt just the odd game, it is now over half a season. He just doesnt look up for it. Even if his confidence was low, his touch has been abysmal, he hasnt attacked the ball in the air in the centre of the field, he is reluctant to get in the box and when he does he finishes like a total wally. Just nowhere near good enought for us at the moment. We despeerately need a new striker now.
His inane criticism of AVB was just stupid. AVB is probably happy to let him go to the ACof N because he is not offering anything to the side , and as Statto touched on, may even be counterproductive to the team and the squad. Lets get a proper top striker in and let him fight for his place. His best games last year came when he was under pressure from either Defoe or Saha. He needs a good kick up the jacksie.
I think it's semantics, you don't seem to mean 'buy a striker', you just mean buy a top quality world class striker. Or i think that's what you mean.
If we have the Ade of last year we'd be fine in the Striker situation. We don't, you win some transfers you lose some.
No, he seems to be saying that we need more strikers, that we don't have enough strikers.
I have made it very clear that I would be delighted to see us sign someone better than the ones we have. I do think that would mean that someone out of the 4 mentioned above would be unhappy/unsettled and that we should then probably look to sell someone.
but I suppose it won't sit well with those requiring big spending and marquee signings.
Bit of a contradiction there?
You just mentioned Damiao would be a good signing in your preferred model - however - he'll require both big spending and be considering a massive marquee signing by all standards, mind you - Brazil's second starting striker, do me a fabvour
I simply fail to see why a young prospect which fits ours model can't also be a massive spending /marquee signing. Anything over 16-17m for us is a considerable investment, imv.
For me those two are not mutually exclusive.
I never said they were. What I'm saying is that those expecting an established name, already in a top league, have a long wait ahead. Signings like Vertonghen, Dembele, Modric etc. are all expensive, but they are young, talented, hungry players.

Adebayor blasts 'liar' Villas-Boas over Cup of Nations claims
Emmanuel Adebayor has blasted Tottenham manager Andre-Villas Boas for 'lying' to the media.
The Spurs boss told the press he would be happy for the striker to go to the Africa Cup of Nations with Togo.
But Adebayor disputes this, saying: 'That is what he said to the press but not what he said to me.
'There is a difference between what you say to the press and what you say in private.'
Right on cue, from the Mail.
Why do people get so upset over quotes taken out of context to support a shock headline?
'Blasted'? Really? To me that presents an image of someone being angry, which I highly doubt he was from the words used. Given the complete exchange of questions and answers with accompanying body language I think this whole article would fall apart.
