i think what you have said is the only thing thats 100% guaranteed
however the body language when he came on against chelsea is telling.
followed by the huge coincidence of him not even being selected due to injury or illness in a period where rumours were rife that he was playing up........
putting two and two together and coming up with a score that isnt 4 is the obvious thing to happen.
Hmmm - hammy, back and now "sick". Bit of a coincidence dont you think?
I tend to agree with the poster who said Ade has the tendency to start off well wherever he has been and then fades. I really hope that isnt the case as a fully fit, happy and fully functioning Ade (ala Liverpool and Saudi Sportswashing Machine) would add a lot to our team at present.
We dont need a sulking, greedy dumbass however.
How anyone can slag off AVB on this situation is baffling, however frustrating it is him not starting for us.
Ade didn't have a pre season with us and was completely unfit at the start of the season. He COULDN'T start. And every time he has had an opportunity to play (like Lloris who took them) he has been ill. So he hasn't improved his match fitness and he hasn't staked his claim. What people seem to expect is to throw him in and not earn his place.
I want in the starting eleven. I don't Defoe works in the formation. But either he isn't fit and injured, or he's been an absolute **** and refusing to play in the lesser matches. Either way he shouldn't be starting.
There is no version of this situation where AVB is wrong.
I wonder how many of our 6 summer signings were actually AVB's choices.
None, they were all forced upon him by our evil chairman.

Not forced on him - I'm sure AVB agreed to the signings, with Levy acting as de facto DOF - but I don't think they were anywhere near his first choices, and I suspect he agreed to them thinking that he would get Moutinho, and he wanted Moutinho so much that taking cheaper players elsewhere was acceptable (not the ideal, but I'm sure AVB understands our financial limitations). The problem, of course, is no Moutinho - or any deep playmaker at all - so... it hasn't exactly gone to plan.

I'm a big Ade fan and unless he's unfit or unmotivated, I think he should start over Defoe any day. I do think there's something not quite right about it all, but my suspicion is that Ade came so late, and without a preseason, that he's had to do a lot of catch-up work and by not being totally fit has made himself more vulnerable to illness and injury. So yeah, he really is not match fit atm; but I think the whole business with City and missing fitness has not impressed AVB either. I don't think AVB is all that stubborn about sticking to the old guard, considering he's played plenty of the new signings along with 'youngsters' like Caulker and Livermore.
Ade is a real Jekyl and Hyde. On his day, he is among the best CF's in the world. However, he is also prone to sulking, sloppiness, laziness (especially when getting needlessly offside) and poor finishing. Which one turns up is anyones guess.
My brother is a Gooner and he said "just wait, as soon as he signs permanently he'll become a problem"... Really hope he isn't right.
How the hell did that happen?
:-k
He was a Watford, Liverpool (because Barnes moved there) and then a Palace fan before settling on L'Arse! Next door neighbour signed him up as a Junior Gunner and took him to matches as he had two girls himself (Oh the chauvinist times we grew up in  ) when he was about 12 or something...
...I myself flew a much straighter and truer path... Picked Spurs when I was about 6 because I like blue!
So, after the discussions in previous weeks about Adebayor being visibly unhappy and frustrated I tried to pay particular attention to him and his body language against Wigan.
I could see him smiling and looking happy as he was warming up. I could see him running about a lot when he came on and trying really hard to make stuff happen. Stats showed him having a lot more involvements on the ball than JD did per minute and he overall looked eager to get the ball and chase opponents when need be.
I couldn't see a single real sign of the unhappiness people have claimed to see previously.
