Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Adebayor played 33 EPL games for us 2011-12 scoring 17 times with 11 assists.
He played in 17 of our 20 2012 EPL games.
Can Statto or anyone confirm his goals and assists in those games?

8 goals, don't know how many assists but he got 4 against Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

Considering how poor Adebayor has been for us in 2012...
It's strange that Adebayor has started his career off superbly wherever he seems to go but then tails off after a few months.

Thanks.

Steffen Freund accepts Emmanuel Adebayor has not been happy this season, but insists the striker will have a role to play for Tottenham Hotspur.

Adebayor impressed on loan at White Hart Lane last term, but has been unable to make an impact since rejoining Spurs permanently from Emirates Marketing Project in the summer.

He has made just four substitute appearances, all at home, and has been struggling with back and hamstring injuries since his move.

The 28-year-old was not involved in Sunday's win at Southampton and he remains a doubt for Wednesday's Capital One Cup tie at Norwich City due to a stomach bug.

However, while assistant boss Freund understands Adebayor's frustration, he is adamant the Togo forward is an important part of Andre Villas-Boas' plans.

"Adebayor is sick today," said Freund. "We will have a look tomorrow (to see if he is fit for Norwich).

"If you're not playing and you're injured then of course you are not happy.

"He's really sick but hopefully he will be back in time. He is one of the best strikers in the Premier League. We are happy to have him back here.

"We need every Tottenham Hotspur player. If Andre wants to rotate or change the position up front, it's good to have every player fit."

Reassuring to read that from Freund. Without Ade I seriously fear for our season. He needs to hit form and sooner than the African Cup of Nations. Defoe is doing alright but with Ade in the team we have more options. We're missing his aerial threat and hold up ability.

That reads like an attempt to deflect attention from the situation for me. I don't think Ade is 'sick' at all unfortunately.

I doubt Freund would aim to deceive like that, mate (here's hoping!)

Hmmm - hammy, back and now "sick". Bit of a coincidence dont you think?

I tend to agree with the poster who said Ade has the tendency to start off well wherever he has been and then fades. I really hope that isnt the case as a fully fit, happy and fully functioning Ade (ala Liverpool and Saudi Sportswashing Machine) would add a lot to our team at present.

We dont need a sulking, greedy dumbass however.

Really disappointed if this turns out to be true. Honestly thought he may have found a 'home' as he seemed so happy playing for us.

He was happy because he was playing, mate (much like any other footballer, really) - now he's seemingly found himself on the bench while Defoe starts every single game irrespective of performance in the previous one (or even two!). If AVB feels so strongly about earning and fighting for your place (Brad/Lloris) then surely Ade needs to be give a chance at some point.

whenever the chance to get a chance arrives - he somehow pulls a sickie

Wow, that's the story. The version I heard on the radio sounded like the club had admitted Ade was in open revolt.

wouldnt put it past any sports professional to tell a lie.

personally i think freund is not being totally honest about whats going on here.

Have to say that i fully support AVB in what looks to be a performance motivated scheme for selection.

you play well and / or work hard in matches then you play........
one or two bad games wont be the sole decider on team selection when weighed up against everything you have done
everyone gets a shot when the / their time comes.

This is how football SHOULD be , alas it isnt how its actually run outside of being the best or top managers in the world. and even then have to tread lightly

Agree. The trouble is that only the top managers get the results to maintain the strategy. A few poor results and then its the manager's team selection to blame.

you may be right, however i think that there is a lot of guesswork, speculation and rumour mongering going on by fans and press alike.

i think what you have said is the only thing thats 100% guaranteed

however the body language when he came on against chelsea is telling.

followed by the huge coincidence of him not even being selected due to injury or illness in a period where rumours were rife that he was playing up........

putting two and two together and coming up with a score that isnt 4 is the obvious thing to happen.
