Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

If only there was some way of finding out what he was like mentally before we signed him? A year long loan maybe?

The way the club has done is business at times is so amateur and reactionary.

lol ;)

'Poor Ade, knew there was something behind it, Poor Ade, must be hard having a family like that'.. AAAARRRGGGHHH. lol

I think my head will explode!

No fear of that sunshine, it appears there is PLENTY of room for growth and expansion in there! ;)

I'd start by not being such a fanny.

Then I'd start earning my money.

The rest would probably fall into place from there.

Amazing concise clarity and wisdom there Scara...in fact, given that he has probably never, ever tried the first two, and with your immense knowledge of both the third point AND his family affairs, perhaps you should approach him as a personal advisor?

The win at Everton effectively pocketed Spurs and extra £2.5m in Premier League prize money. Fifth place netted the White Hart Lane club £19.8m, while seventh would have been worth £17.3m.

But Levy is currently refusing to put that money towards getting unwanted striker Emmanuel Adebayor out of the club.

Adebayor is currently on compassionate leave to try to sort out family issues that he has made public on Facebook, but Levy wants a £5m transfer fee for the 31-year-old.

It would cost Spurs around £5m to pay up the final year of Adebayor’s contract and let him leave on a free transfer, but Levy is trying to find buyers before contemplating that course of action.

Adebayor is not part of the Tottenham squad that has travelled to Malaysia and Sydney for the club’s post-season tour.

I suspect we'll see Adebayor released (with the remainder of his contract paid) before the end of the summer. But it obviously makes sense for Levy to try and get some money for him if at all possible... try sell him for £5m, and when the buyer insists we pay half his wages, we compromise by letting him go for free with that "£5m fee" effectively going straight to Adebayor and his agent.

But I doubt even that will happen. He's spent the past couple of months telling the world that he potentially might be too unstable to be relied on. Maybe Sherwood might think he can turn him around (like before) but the Villa board would be fools to take that risk in my view. So I suspect he'll be on compassionate leave until the end of August, at which stage we'll pay him off. At that point I'm sure someone will pick him up and roll the dice, but only because there's always a team desperate for a striker and willing to take a risk on a free agent.

Yeah nothing to lose by just holding out now for the rest of the summer. Its not like he will be involved anyway. Who knows maybe a Turkish club or someone will offer us 2 or 3 mill.

Why should we pay off all of Ade's remaining contract, only to have him then possibly sign for another PL team and maybe even come back to haunt us. Might as well pay him the 5mill to stay at home for next season...

Nothing wrong with doing that.

If he is medically unable to perform, then we need to terminate his contract.

Its about time footballers had mid and end of year reviews with objectives

Agreed on not letting him go.

If we're paying for him then he's not playing football for anyone else. I'd normally say let him rot in the reserves but I wouldn't want his influence there.

Speaking on Twitter, Adebayor said: “For the record I have seen some articles regarding a transfer to teams in Turkey.

“I can confirm I have never heard of Mehdi Isik who has said he is my agent and have never discussed any move to Turkey.”

Adebayor reportedly failed to report to international duty this week with Togo, and failed to comment over this apparent rumour.

The former Emirates Marketing Project striker did continue to say that he is happy in North London.

Adebayor said: “I am very happy with Tottenham and look forward to the next season with them.”

Whether the striker remains with Mauricio Pochettino’s side this window remains to be seen, having not started for the club since the 1-0 victory over Sheffield United in January.

Of course he is happy, he is getting money for nothing

who the fcuk sanctioned the signing of this tw@t..............I really dont think AVB wanted him in the first place

disgrace

He actually erodes a little of my love for the club every time he opens his mouth. Talk about
not being self aware, does he not realise how much he is dispised! If he is a starter next season i would despair
