This isn't a field I know much about at all, but my uneducated theory is that it has to do with the physical level of the PL compared to the other leagues he's managed in.I read numerous articles about Ange’s teams a good one from the Athletic) last season, the gist of most of them was that Ange’s teams suffer injuries in the first season whilst they get adjusted to his methods, but things return to normal in the second half of the season. That clearly hasn’t happened this season. It can’t just be bad luck 2 seasons in a row. Whilst perhaps it’s unfair to lay the blame on Ange, I think it’s fair to ask why we are still getting so many injuries.
You have to be at a very high physical level to make it as a PL player, and the strain from high intensity PL games are already very high. Which means there's less gain to be made from increasing fitness, and the margins are smaller - hence it's a thinner line between maximising fitness/game intensity and getting injured.
The injury pile up and reluctance to rotate obviously plays a part as well. But the underlying premise IMO is that it's harder for Ange to avoid injuries with a PL team because of the need to push boundaries on a whole different level than in Oz, Japan and Scotland.
Doesn't mean it can't be done, but we would need a squad full of players better suited to Angeball, and rotate them much more frequently/cleverly. Which is why IMO the club apparently still backs Ange, because we're still in the process of building that squad, but with an emphasis on youth.
