I came off social media a while ago. Best thing I ever did for my mental health. Only takes about an hour of looking through X, FB, TT and Insta for you to start thinking that human kind needs a good old mass extinction event! They really need to shut down twitter, its the worst social media platform on the internet for racism and discrimination.
It will come. I have seen more and more lads at grass roots level like GB said. Still probably not enough in terms of being representative of the total population but its growing. I think it will take a trailblazer for kids to aspire to. And then you'll see more and more coming through. You had that in cricket already and I remember Amir Khan created a surge of lads in the local gyms picking up boxing. We've got some kids here who should have made it. Matter of time. Cricket there is incredible talent and purely on that basis, South Asians are massively under represented in first class cricket in my view.
My dream is to see an ethnic Pakistani play for Englands football team.
When Owais Shah debuted for England I was ecstatic. What a day it was.

I saw in that comments that he becomes the 81st Spurs player to be capped by England

I believe it's good to see young kids inspired by players they have a connection with. I never played with a non white footballer until I was in my 20's, he was a Sikh. I don't think a person's religion is anybodies business, when will get the stats on Catholic, Christian Sciences etc. I do not like organised religions. Most of the numbskulls who bang on about Muslims have little idea that there are millions of African and European believers. My grandsons team has 3 muslim players, 2 of African descent and the other Serbian.

I believe there were 2 South Asians to play cricket for before Shah, Ranjisingh and the Nawab of Pataudi, Ranji I think was a Hindu and the Nawab Muslim, both princes. The Nawab played for England v Australia in the infamous Jardine tour and was dropped after disagreeing with the captain, subsequently he captained India against England in 1946. His son like him went on to captain India.
Nasser Hussain was from a Muslim family in Madras obviously captained England cricket from 1999. Don't think hes religious/practising but in terms of family background he is close.I believe there were 2 South Asians to play cricket for England before Shah, Ranjisingh and the Nawab of Pataudi, Ranji I think was a Hindu and the Nawab Muslim, both princes. No dont think he was practising but his family heritage was a Muslim Indian community background on his dad's side at least. Although again don't believe they were the strictest observantHe was half English and half Indian. I don't think Nasser is Muslim
