Djed Spence

the feeling that fans want a younger player and prospect to come in no matter what is true.

But also. in regards to spence. We all seem to agree Royal is not a long term answer ( maybe conte does though ) and Doherty it not either ( even though he played well ) but its more like we want to get Spence in so he can go through his growing pains. He was in the championship team of the season for a reason. Has pace to burn and is a forward thinking Wingback. For me I would rather he was in now and suffer mistakes so we know what we have. We have kind of run out of cheap games to play him in. So its that or nothing.

I'd be playing Doherty all day long for the moment. No issue with giving Spence time in the cups, the last CL game if match day 5 goes as we want or a few sub appearances here and there. I wouldn't be blooding him against the likes of Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Man U.

It's not like he's a complete unknown quantity to Conte either. Conte sees him every day in training and knows more about what's needed than the rest of us. If he's not playing him, there is a reason for it.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment that we trust in conte. Some players are game players and lesser in training. All I'm saying is. Give him a game. A full game.

Conte may be doing this to keep him grounded, so when he does get his chance he is will be focused on impressing him rather than the crowd and he doesn't get carried away with too much too soon. Does he have a track record with bringing through young players gradually? (Ignore Skipp he was born middle aged and appears he couldn't be more grounded!)

He says he picks the team he thinks has the best chance at winning.

TBF, what's said in press conferences aren't exactly a reflection of reality. It's just a diplomatic way of him saying "I'm the boss, I get to pick the team, deal with it."

So he picks teams he doesn't think have the best chance of winning? Doesn't sound right.

He may say that but I think there's definitely an element of squad and ego management rather than reacting to the here and now.

I just like to think that he has a longer term view than just the next match, maybe even with the case of Kulu by not rushing him back, gradually reintegrating Doherty and Skipp post their injuries and giving players a run of games rather than dropping them as he knows he may need to call upon them later in the season. Even Bissouma has taken a while to stake his claim.

Possibly, but he's also said it's not his job to please the players. It's their job to please him.

He might be wrong in his selections. I do think that he picks the team he thinks gives him the best chance of winning though.

We're in a title fight this season, every point matters, we can fudge around in the cups, but it'll be full gas in the league and the CL.

I'd love to see him make the team, because it would mean he was performing, but you don't blood potential in a win now window.

Love this kid for some reason.

Something about him, seems to genuinely enjoy having the ball, seems confident.

Surely he has to start at some point.
