Presumably he is a depth option and he will be given the opportunity to nail down a position. As it is he’s fairly ephemeral and doesn’t really have a set role. iirc De Zerbi mentioned something along the lines of settling him into a role. So I’d imagine this season is one where he gets properly settled and we begin to see what he is really about.
I think he and Bents will be the backups behind Tonali and Fernandes…just not sure who will backup who.
If he gets settled into a role he will no doubt in improve in the relevant area even if just through sheer repetition. Maybe you’re right and he would make a good RB , probably a defensively oriented one but it won’t be because of any similarity to the players you mentioned as he isn’t similar to them at all.
I did answer. I’m not someone who rates him heavily. He has some potential and is a long term project. I’m willing to see if he can develop into something.
I have higher standards especially for midfielders than most.

I like players to play their actual positions and I prefer to keep the better players in those positions so easily option A for me.
