Nope. He never accepted that Udogie really wasn't troubled unduly by Saka. Yes there was the goal but it was deflected. The narrative was set as you said and he refused to see it any other way.Neville really set the narrative up and absolutely everything was against Udogie at one point. Goal down, looking ropey, yellow card, Saka flying.
For the last 60 mins he was brilliant. And not just in that he didn’t make a mistake. He could have done that and hid. He really contributed at both ends. Saka didn’t get much of a kick second half. Maybe I missed it because I paid less attention to the commentary as time went on but did Neville give him any credit?
This boy is an absolute star.

He let Saka cut inside for the first goal. How many times did Saka beat his man?
He let Saka cut inside for the first goal.
I assume he's watched all the videos where anything Saka does of note comes from cutting in, so he shouldn't have allowed it.
What's great here - we are literally nit picking a couple of dodgy moments from a player that's young, only played 6 games in this country and the issues we have are against one of the best teams in the country and against a very very good player.
That's actually pretty awesome.
Even moreso because a lot of were very concerned going into this season that Destiny might be too poor defensively for the PL.
He's definitely showing he's on the way to becoming the Dog'ies dangly bits.
Absolutely.I don't think any of us are criticising his overall performance. I didn't hear what neville said. But if it was about the goal, yes that was something he could have done better on.
I think PEH also made a difference on that side as he helped stitch things up on the left. Totally agreed that Solomon busted a gut defensively, and it helped us pull control of the match toward us.A lot missed in pundits assessments of him
He actually was keeping quite tight on Saka early, but the soft early yellow put him off a little bit, add in the lack of tracking/cover from Johnson left him a little exposed, when Johnson came back for the runner (in the goal sequence) there was clearly no comms/understanding if Johnson had the runner, that would allow Udogie to close on Saka. Lesson to be learned.
Second lesson, Solomon is way fudging better at defensive work and helping out his FB, so in games when we expect Udogie to be challenged, he might be the better option (see 2nd half where combination of Udogie settling and Solomon covering made a difference)
After he got his ankle sat on.Also Saka clearly started to struggle physically second half.
Tbf his ankle wouldn’t get sat on if he stayed up moreAlso Saka clearly started to struggle physically second half.
As i said in the match thread, it was lack of communication that led to the first goal as Udogie and Johnson ( who ran past Saka) both went to the overlapping runner. If Johnson had gone to Saka i think he puts him off / wins the ball as Saka had no idea he was behind him.You can make the case that udogie should be closer to saka for the goal.
The defence went to brick there.
Was it a dodgy start or an Udodgy start?Hard to believe some times that this kid is only 20, was shaky at first and i have seen a lot of young players go into their shells after a dodgy start for him. But this kid stepped up and is going to be a star as he gets more experiance.
Don't forget your doggie bagWas it a dodgy start or an Udodgy start?
I’ll get my coat.
