Damola Ajayi

He became the first player to score on their debut for the Club since Arnaut Danjuma back in January, 2023, when he scored in our FA Cup win over Preston North End. He was the first Academy graduate to do so since Alfie Devine who also scored in the FA Cup as we defeated Marine 5-0 in January, 2021.

While bagging a goal on his debut, Damola has now been assigned Legacy Number 892.

Weird mistake to make in the article. Ajayi is 893, Olusesi 892, Kinsky 891.

For me, in the short bursts I've seen, this lad looks almost the best of the lot. Gets the ball and first instinct is to run at them, been really impressed
I like that he just made it happen, he didn't abdicate responsibility, he ran at his man, passed it on and went for the return. Shows some decent footballing nous, he knew that Scarlett would lay it back to him to follow up. It's something that has been lacking generally under Ange. I do like the short passing game and sometimes we come up with some really pretty patterns but it's all a bit too indirect at times. A bit too often we look for an extra pass or even the perfect pass rather than taking a shot on.

I don't expect to now see Ajayi starting future game but it would be nice to reward him with appearances off the bench. If he can take that same attitude into PL games against better quality opposition he could be very useful because we get none of that kind of play on the right usually.

Circumstances were very different than most of our games. Momentum, quality of opposition, tiring legs vs fresh legs in our benefit for just about the first time in probably two months.

But yes, he took responsibility and that's definitely part of what's been missing. Great to see that from a young player making his debut, regardless of the circumstances.

Hopefully the start of a glorious career at Spurs

I watched the clip and had to wipe away a tear. Imagine how proud his parents must feel. Amazing.

We needed the bright light from yesterday when you consider the darkness that has enveloped us due to subpar league performances.

Are we now seeing the impact of prior Nigerian migration in this current generation of footballers? We watch Saka and Eze for England, Udogie for Italy, Musiala for Germany and there are many others. I believe they could all play for Nigeria, but chose their country of birth.

Ajayi is yet another of Nigerian descent.

Like a lot of African countries, Nigeria with its 200m people must have some amazing football talent. With it's rate of migration, I think we'll keep seeing these players emerge.
