Cristian Romero

Not good for us
Bit I guess the key now so how Contes time has been spent with the players to date who stayed behind and the ones he kept in touch with whilst away

Chance snow for Tanganga and Rodon I assume
You forgot Sanchez who has played well this season and he was the one Conte brought on when Romero got sent off.

Also whilst not good news, if he was to get injured for a set of games this would probably be the batch of games you would ask it to happen in….

No I did remember him but I think he will g we games either way under Conte
I’m not sure Rodon will unless something like this happens and I’d love to see him get that chance

Well it’s November, so I guess there’s a chance for snow..bit early now though. I think Tanganga deserves to start, he’s better than Dier anyway.

Still on loan ... Are we obliged to buy?
If not, I’d send him back to Atalanta and look elsewhere.

Wait, what?

New to the club and league, young, in a disjointed team playing two different styles under two different managers. He's looked like our best centre back fairly consistently and quickly after a grand total of 6 PL starts.

If we didn't already have Romero we should try to sign him. Looks our best CB signing since Alderweireld.

Yes, probably an overreaction on my part! Just tinkled off he’s barely played for us and his 2 excursions with Argentina have both had very negative impacts.
I think it’s too early to judge him as a player though he looks a bit reckless to me so far.
I doubt if he’ll be the “gamechanger” like Van Dijk that some people were hoping for.
I hope to be proved wrong.

I understand where you're coming from on the overreaction - but not signing him would just be cutting off our own nose...I mean I'd love to get some sort of revenge on the Argentinian national team but looking at it rationally there's nothing we can do - its just part & parcel of the game.
Since you mention van Dijk - at least Romero wasn't done by Ramsdale and out for 12 months.

This has to highlight we can't rely on 1 or 2 top players - we need strength in depth and we need to strengthen the centre back area so that his loss isn't felt as much.
Personally I think he's looked very impressive so far. Yes there is a rashness/over eagerness to win the ball but you have to play the odds if you want to be playing on the front foot. Otherwise we'll just sit camped in our own box waiting for the inevitable. No-one wants that.
