Fair enough. But we have different testing for different things. Genomic sequencing would come under pillar 4 (serveilance testing). Which is different to daily testing which would be pillar 2.
Nhs site is showing a rise in admissions. So we'll see how it goes.

Surely based on the original fear of a spread to the number of 4 and record numbers over a week we would be seeing a sharper increase if it was anywhere near Delta? Not saying we are out of the woods by any stretch but if we were in the grip of something truly evil we would know two/three weeks in

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced a $100 (£75) payment for anyone getting a booster jab before the end of the year.
Unveiling the incentive at a Tuesday media briefing, he said it would be a "challenging few weeks" for the city amid a fast "upsurge in cases" driven by Omicron.
New York state has reported record Covid-19 case numbers for four consecutive days, including 23,391 on Monday.
Mayor de Blasio said the infections appeared to be milder, pledging that New York would "weather the storm" of the variant and avoid further shutdowns.
The $100 scheme comes ahead of a speech by US President Joe Biden later where he is expected to announce 500 million free tests and other measures.

Not sure what you are trying to interpret with that graph. Daily Cases are still much higher than they were at any time during the previous COVID waves. There is no sense of relief to be gained from that chart. Goes back to what I was saying earlier, everyone presents info as if they are experts in COVID or data analysis.Cases plateaued for 6 days in a row now:
Edit: I am also aware in the lead up to Christmas that there are a lot of people testing positive on home LFTs but not following up with PCR tests to stay off the Gov radar. So cases are even higher. What we know: Omicron is highly infectious, significantly more so than previous strains. Even if it is milder that infectivity will by sheer number of people infected likely to result in an increase in hospitalisations. There is nothing else certain at the moment.

Oh comon. We've been told cases are doubling every 2 days and will lead to a tsunami/tidal wave, 6000 deaths a day...

I have not seen any sensible commentators making claims about death rates. But it is true in some areas of London the case rates are doubling in a fairly short period of time.
But what we can say is we are a long way from being out of the woods which is the suggestion in the post from @Gutter Boy. I am not advocating a lock down but I am surprised that the government have not put forward some sensible restrictions such as reducing attendances at big events.
Edit: I am not surprised actually. Not when we have a government looking nervously over their shoulders at their MPs rather than putting the country first. Even Sweden are putting in more restrictions than us
