Raab is a plonker saying that people are mean spirited if they are upset with rule breaks at Number 10. Ive stuck to rules 100% like many despite not being happy with them at time however what he is saying that if you have had a hard day at work and therefore wanna pop into a mates for a beer, despite it being against the rules, its ok? Right?

Surely this kind of crap makes them unfit to place rules onus in future? The example is set now

They will lose badly at the next election they are so out of touch.

The only rules I have broken in this was to go out for more then one bit of exercise at the start. Also meeting friends for walks but never indoors.

Everyone I know has made real effort and sacrifices. But the government are absolute arseholes.

I was always voting Labour but I just can not see anyone voting tory, why would they.

In leaked minutes seen by the BBC last week, the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies suggested that if no further restrictions were introduced, UK hospital admissions could peak at between 3,000 and 10,000 a day - and deaths between 600 and 6,000.

Prof Leitch said this could translate to between 60 and 600 Covid deaths a day in Scotland, but added there was not yet enough data on Omicron to know for sure.

3000 - 10000 and 600 - 6000 nothing like hedging your bets!

It's pathetic and not good enough to impose widescale restrictions on

People just will not comply and it's after the horse has bolted too

Universities won't go to remote teaching again with all the court cases for fee reimbursement they've already got going through from the last two years. But then their terms don't start till late January anyway, its just exams before then, where they are all distanced for not cheating purposes anyway.

Over 90k new cases but number of people in hospital with covid falls again to 7482 (7611 yesterday).

That is good news at least. But I suspect the granular detail is more important. For example, the hospitalisation numbers in London, where Omicron is probably endemic.

Cases actually seem to have stabilised the last week or so at around that 90k level. I know that's double the previous baseline, but its not going exponential.

The top right of this graph does look to be levelling off

There will be civil unrest

There really won’t be. People can’t even be arsed to take to the streets when the PM has been trolling them for at least a year.

Universities are due to start again 10th January. If they are closed and schools are open it’s an utterly pointless exercise. (Both should remain open in my opinion.)

I wonder if that’s down to testing capacity being exceeded and/or many not reporting cases? It’s certainly rife amongst people I know - so many have tested positive in this last fortnight.

If hospitalisations and deaths remain steady 10 days or so from now we can perhaps start to be optimistic.
