Agreed. However when laws and regulations are enforced in a manner which disproportionately affects one (or sometimes more) group of people, the end result is almost always the use of force to promote change, as history has shown us. This isn't a 'white person' problem, its a systemic issue globally which is always being addressed. At this moment in time it is at the forefront of a lot of political and socio-economic discussion and most prominent in the westernised nations. I believe this is because we are the frontrunners when it comes to ensuring everyone has a 'fair shot'. A lot of progress has been made but still a helluva long way to go.

Yes I agree with you. One thing the BLM movement brought home yo me was how many more black people die in police care.

One thing I disagree with is that this country has been fair, countless members of my own family going back to my grandparents would say, yeah better then being born some other places but not fair by a long shot.

What I dont understand is that everything I have read, it is barely getting passed in the home and B&Q have released public backed data saying catching it in a shop is highly unlikely.

Where is it being spread.

Or white people lecturing people of colour on what is or isn’t racist based on their experience and how they should behave when they are faced with it :D

So it turns out, closing only pubs and restaurants but keeping EVERYTHING ELSE open doesn't do much to slow the virus. Who knew?

that's why the current rules are so frustrating, if you're in the worst possible Tier (3 at the moment) - how can you argue for non-essential stores to be open? What you're saying is, "things are really bad where you live, so you can't go pubs and restaurants but everything else is fine". People shouldn't need to go clothes shopping to New Look during Tier 3.

Mothercare and things, fine, keep those open, but absolutely needless to have people shopping for clothes or buying makeup in a shopping centre if you're in Tier 3.

^ The reason non-essential shops were/are open is surely to provide them with a cash injection (i.e. a months income can make a difference).

I think people would respect it more if they were just honest, rather than inventing borderline plausible justifications.

Its clearly the schools, the kids may not get very ill from it but they can carry it. This whole mutation brick is nonsense imo just an excuse to cover up the fact they fudged it up keeping the kids at school to spread the virus like everyone expected.

I think you might have something. But how can you keep schools shut for a year. You would be quite literally ruining children's lives.

We learned last time that if the schools are shut them so is the economy.

There's no alternative to schools being open.

This is why we put our trust in the government to work things like this out. I am not saying its an easy job to do at all but some things could have been done differently. The last “lockdown” didn’t even feel like we were in a lockdown everything was pretty much the same other than not being able to go for a pint.

but that was Tier 3 in its entirety. Everything open except pubs and restaurants. All non-essential shops open, all shopping centres open. It wasnt a lockdown at all. It's ridiculous.

If you're "highest tier" allows for that to happen, then you're gonna face an incredibly tough time winding down to Tier 2 from there, it will only get worse. Your highest tier rating has to be a full lockdown like it was back in March time, idiotic of our government to rely on a highest tier rating that keeps pretty much everything open.

Autumn/Winter is more of a how than a where, but you're correct.

Agree with your point above (though for different reasons to yours). We can’t keep schools closed - so we’re stuck in this until the vaccine (hopefully) changes the course.

Equally, if children are the source of spread, why fudge everyone's Christmas by locking down?

We're not going to shut the schools, so what's the point?

Wasn't the lockdown thingy in November different to tier 3?

I suppose they are worried about hospitals being overrun. It’s already happening in N Ireland.
