Brazilian GP plans to cut down forest and replace with track
David Attenborough's 'A Life on Our Planet' just out on Netflix is excellent. Truly excellent.
Last chance saloon mate.I really, REALLY hope people listen to the message. If they’re not going to consider it from Sir David himself, then all hope is lost.
Do you mean in terms of a drop off greenhouse gas emissions?@Rorschach any benefit due to recent lack of travel and people in cities recently? Saw big things early on

The numbers I read when everything was shut down, planes, trains and automobiles, was about an 8% drop off. This is roughly the drop we'll need to achieve year on year to hit the Paris targets. But that drop has all but disappeared now and we're close to where we were before the pandemic. What that does show is the upper limit to which individual choice can actually affect things and it is not enough. Every climate wonk and activist ultimately comes to the conclusion that this 8% figure underlines - people power driving policy change is the only way to affect things on the scale we need.Yeh or general positives? I saw stories of wildlife flourishing etc but not so many recently

That would be my expectation. Indirectly, but yes.So climate change will turn men into rapists.
Here's a good article on geothermal energy exploring its use as an alternative energy source for grid balancing using only renewables. It has been around forever but ironically fracking technology gives it a new lease of life.

Absolute cuns with zero respect I hope they got a good shoeingI don't think Extinction Rebellion made a good move today, no need for it and what were they thinking stepping on other wreaths to get theirs at the front. It seems they're doing more and more silly things and will lose support over time.

I wonder how much carbon a burning, disrespectful, self-obsessed extinction rebellion clam would release into the atmosphere?Absolute cuns with zero respect I hope they got a good shoeing
That particular article has generated a bit of chatter in climate circles for being mostly wrong.

Well, I wouldn't put much stock in it. I've seen it pop up a few times recently and with some of the climate heavyweights lambasting it.I'm not posting it to say it's right or wrong, just posting it.
It's also posted in a journal that's gathering a bit of a reputation for publishing anything then retracting later. That particular article has generated a bit of chatter in climate circles for being mostly wrong.
