Circus ManUnitus - Nobody's At The Wheel

Clutching at straws, having him above Rooney is just wrong. He will retire as top scorer

not clutching at anything, just stating a fact

now I am a big big Rooney fan and agree he will set that record, but Charlton is a great of the game, not just United

Yeah but the point being made was solskjaer is a bigger man u legend than Rooney

I just don't think that Rooney has elevated himself to legend status with Man U because he's so hot and cold, and the contract stalling and threats to leave didn't help.

Whereas Solskjaer was the complete opposite. Could have left for more game time and money but preferred to stay and play a part at Man U.

I rate Solskjaer as being an integral part of their best ever team (in the EPL era anyway).

The guy will be their top ever scorer, you are wrong

Well it's my opinion, so I'm not, but I don't really care unless you think Rooney is a better striker for the national team than Shearer, Lineker, Greaves, etc ?
No but he is better than Owen who probably equates

Opinions can be wrong and yours is

No surprise here. :)

Van Gaal: I earn a lot for doing nothing!

Louis van Gaal says he has so many assistants at Manchester United it leaves him with hardly anything to do.

The Dutchman led United back into the Champions League last season and has guided them to fourth in the Premier League this term - two points adrift of leaders Emirates Marketing Project and Arsenal.

Van Gaal believes the role of the coach has changed since he made his managerial bow at Ajax in 1991, joking that he does not have to do much work for his hefty pay cheque.

"I'm from a time where [the coach] did everything," he told The Telegraph.

"Now I'm the manager and I have a sports science department, I have a scouting department, I have a medical department, I have assistant managers, I have assistant coaches.

"I don't do anything - nothing! I delegate. I delegate, and I earn a lot of money."

The 64-year-old declared his football philosophy is more about educating players, rather than enhancing their physical capabilities.

"When you see my press conferences, I'm discussing my philosophy a lot," Van Gaal added.

"Sometimes, the media is not very proud of it. But, sometimes, they are crazy for it because I explain a lot.

"It takes always a little bit of time to transfer the message. I'm training in the brain - a lot of things in the brain - because football is not a sport of legs, it is a sport of brain, and tactics.

"All the players have to sustain that process and that's not easy. Praise is better than to be negative, it is true. But, sometimes, I'm sorry, you have to be negative also."

Perhaps a surprise that he realises it.

He makes a good point about the change from the manager who does everything to the one who leads a large team. One of the things that made Fergie one of the greats was his ability to adapt. Even though he was an authoritarian, he was able to delegate responsibility and his best periods were usually when he had the best assistants. Other managers haven't been able to change. In contrast, Wenger seems to struggle with delegation. And Mourinho seems intent on repeating the same approach, mistakes and all, which will probably prevent him been rated the greatest manager of all time.

Manchester United player: 'I'm half the player I can be under Van Gaal'

One first-team player is reportedly unhappy with his role under Louis van Gaal and feels sorry for the fans watching him.

A Manchester United player has reportedly complained he is 'half the player' he can be under Louis van Gaal's management.

United recorded their fifth goalless game of the season on Wednesday night against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League - their fourth match in the last seven in which they have failed to score.

Supporters have become so critical of Van Gaal that, for the fourth time this season, there was booing at Old Trafford over the team's style of play.

The discontent is supposedly shared by at least one member in the dressing room, too.

"I spoke to one player at United who told me he is half the player he can be here at the moment because of the way they are playing," the Daily Telegraph's deputy football correspondent Jason Burt told the BBC.

"He doesn't feel it is fair on him, he doesn't feel it's fair for the fans that he can't express himself properly and he finds it very difficult to play here."

Van Gaal claimed United, who require a win in Wolfsburg to qualify for the last 16, were 'afraid' to attack in the second-half of their goalless draw with PSV.

"We could have finished in the first half but also in the second-half," he said. "To the end we're not so good any more, we were afraid to play the ball but nevertheless do not give too much chances away.

"I cannot say every game in the interview with you that we didn't finish but it is the truth.

"It will be very difficult because Wolfsburg are the best team in our group to play against, but it is possible.

"We have won also at home and PSV has to win against Moscow, it is not so easy."

Van Gaal out. I've had enough.

Rooney getting subbed was a major positive.

Pass pass and more pointless passing.

brick, didn't make any decent chances at all

Thought we looked better in the 2nd half, and we actually created some opportunities when Rooney came off.

Big fat meh.

Can't really believe how much our attacking play is getting on my nerves. Utterly pointless at times. I wonder if any defence is the least bit troubled by it.

First time I have ever written or thought this about any man United manager including Moyes, but LVG does not suit United.

Only time will tell with Leicester, but if they do keep up how they've started the season a 1-1 draw away to them won't be a bad result.

OMG that was so boring... numb...

And finally a 'turgid':
Turgid slow brick. I was firmly on the keep LVG side, but this is a bit of an eye opener.
He's far too stubborn and unwilling to change stuff. Gag
