Cheatski are still scum

Don’t worry, the premier league will sort this just in time to not have any serious consequences for chelsea. And then they’ll just find another way of cheating.
Exactly what I thought as well. They’ll wait till Sep 1st to ban it by which time Chelsea will have sold 5-10 players to Saudi for 350m to balance the books.

Then Chelski will appeal, and spend the next decade in a legal arm wrestle with FIFA/CAS/whoever, while the ban is suspended, Chelski rebuild and the players they sold retire.

Rinse and repeat.

Another with no fee announced !!

Senegal's Kalidou Koulibaly has become the latest Chelsea player to move to Saudi Arabia after the Senegal defender completed a transfer to Al-Hilal.

The centre-back, 32, joins Ruben Neves at the Saudi Pro League side following the Wolves midfielder's £47m switch.

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has also agreed to sign for Saudi champions Al-Ittihad, while team-mate Edouard Mendy is close to joining Al-Ahli.

Koulibaly signed for Chelsea from Napoli last July on a four-year deal.

Next time there's a rainbow laces game in the PL I want to see every one of these players who have taken the Saudi dollar (riyal) and who wore the laces over here, wearing those laces for the equivalent game. Of course it won't happen. (Chav thread but not just talking about chav players).
I don't generally blame any player chasing the money at the end of their career but after all the furore with Qatar hosting the World Cup and with all the work that goes into the anti-discrimination campaigns that have taken place over here, PL players joining Saudi clubs smacks more of enabling sports-washing more than anything we have seen thus far. I dread any of our players following that path as it would really taint the memories of them I want to keep.
It's a whole new world we are facing and I am struggling a bit to know how to deal with it.

Yeh I agree. Sadly the moral compass in football is so fcuked that you can't trust anyone finding the right path even with a tour guide. People will always have an excuse from not doing the right thing and fans would sell their granny for success.

The mistake you're making is that you're applying your own particular moral compass to others. Please remember these players come from a myriad of different cultures and experiences and so do not necessarily see the world via the same eyes that you do.

As an example, if I were Muslim and believe in Sharia law why would I have issue joining a Saudi team and playing there?

Thats cool if you can fill the league with people who actively live within that culture. If however based on the original point you have been rightly preaching equality for all then your hypocrisy should rightly be highlighted IMO

Sure but are they really preaching equality for all or just following their club mandated PR operations. If we were talking about projects or schemes they were personally involved in outside of the influence of their club and or sponsors then sure you accuse them of hypocrisy. Its likely the case as it often is they just went along with whatever they have been asked because their media managers have told them to and to not would cause issues for them in the press. There's a hell of a lot of virtue signalling today, a lot of the football related stuff really feels like that to me.

I don't think you need to fill the league with "people who actively live within the culture" just people who are willing to acclimatise to their surroundings. Just as many people from various places around the world have done in the UK (to varying degrees).

Im talking about holding a basic view that women, homosexuals and BAME communities deserve better and holding that belief, not PR. But to your point, I don't think that much needed levelling up for said communities is virtue signalling, especially after they have had to spend far too long in the shadows of what we take for granted.

But thats the point being made, the same level of acceptability does not exists both ways. And we have a long way to go don't get me wrong but to a man and religion there is no official state run oppression, religious or otherwise here that does not allow you to be yourself. There are some cultural challenges but they are not based around you not being able to practise your sexual choice, religious choice etc etc

There is a difference between belief and bigotry and I just don't accept that religion is a cure all to explain it.

Anyway that's take the subject way off topic so will leave that there.

BTW Chelsea are Cnuts...that's nicely back on subject

That may be a fair point but I am more than happy to say my moral compass is above that of any person who does not see that anyone who is not -heterosexual is deserving of the same rights as someone who is. If you are willing to play for an authority that is against these basic human rights, whilst pretending to stand up for those rights when you played in the PL, then you are a hypocrite at best and a despicable person at worst and I will judge in that basis.
