Champions League 2014/15

The problem with man ****ty that the players have no empathy or knowledge to the past history of the club, most of their success has come in a new staduim with no links to the past what so ever, you can transport the club and players and the board to anywhere in the uk and you'll get the same feeling to the club.

Most of the players won't know nothing about city's past at all won't even bother ,even Aguero still can't speak english and how long has he been here, picks his pay cheque up and goes home and waits for his agent to say real madrid, bayern munich or psg are after him. The only player banging the drum is Kompany and sometimes Hart....

A wonderful stat!

I have always said I'd have played anyone but Madrid in the QF because Mourinho knew how to grind one out the wrong way, the horrible man. And I've always felt that Crouch (and us) got ****ed over in that first-leg. I have yet to see any other ref give 2 yellow cards to a striker in the first 12 minutes of a QF, with no warning.

We could've won it that season.

To be fair, we were being outplayed at the Bernabeu long before Two Metre Peter was sent off. We might not have lost that game 4-0 but I'm pretty sure that we would have lost regardless.

I thought we were unluckier in the second leg, actually. We were the better team for much of the game and should have been awarded at least one and possibly two penalties. Even RM's goal was only the result of a horrendous error by Huerelho Gomes rather than any great play by RM. Having said that, though, RM were probably playing well within themselves, having more or less wrapped the tie up in the first leg.

Its not only the players, most of the fans didn't exist prior to the Sheikh's takeover.

Their problem in Europe is they don't adapt their playing style. Against the likes of Burnley and QPR City can play all out attack as the opposaition don't have the players to attack back, do that in Europe and the quality level is a little higher and City get caught out.

think it's more a throwaway jokey comment than a stat. they've definitely won more than 2 games in the last 4 seasons?

Looking at wiki they've played in the champs 4 times, played 22, won 8, drawn 5 and lost 9. More games than I thought they'd won, but yes nothing like as bad as mentioned.

@BBCSporf: FACT: Tom Cleverley has won more Champions League games than Emirates Marketing Project have won in their entire history.

Not sure that's all...

PSG have done well, as did Malaga under Pellegrini.

They've had some bad luck with the group stage draws and some bad luck in games I think. Now it's become a thing hanging over them.

Actually, they had solid support long before Mansour took over - averaging nigh on 30K per game when in the third tier of English football and well over 40K after their move to the COMS (now Etihad) stadium prior to takeover.

As to the reason for their failure in Europe, it seems to me that it's not so much their defence that isn't coping well with the different demands. Rather, it is the attack. They simply aren't able to break down European defences in the same way that they routinely break down English defences (especially Spurs', alas!).

I think we are perhaps underestimating their opponents as well, Mousa and Doumbia would get double figures in a half against us

Even though I was there I can't remember the first booking, but the second was stupid considering he had already been booked.

I still think they suffer with the fact that they are still Emirates Marketing Project, at least in the CL anyway. They are a club of with no history of sustained success or tradition to speak of. We struggle with it although to a much greater extent. To be fair, they drew Napoli in their first CL campaign, now don't get me wrong, Napoli were a strong side back then, but it was also their first season in the CL and they managed OK. The next year they lost to Ajax I believe. The years of losing are still ingrained at that club somewhere, it will a few more years of them winning trophies to rid themselves of it.

Following a 90th minute equaliser by CSKA against Roma:

Code:
Bayern Munich	P4	+10	12 pts
Roma P5	-4	5 pts
CSKA Moscow	P5	-4	5 pts
Emirates Marketing Project	P4	-2	2 pts

Looks like a win in Rome will get them through, dirty basterds. Has anyone ever qualified with as little as 5 points before?

How many at the Etihad tonight, 25k ???

Or did they give away loads of free tickets with free food, booze and bj's

Keep on hearing this tonight. City no chance of getting a win there.
Bottom of the group is where they'll finish.
