Cann we avoid the drop?

Looked at fixtures earlier and could not see many points coming our way. Our saving grace might be that the bottom 3/4 sides are equally if not worse than us.
We just lost to one of them? Leicester have taken 4 points from us this season. Ipswich have taken 3. Wolves drew with us at home and Everton absolutely pulled our pants down for 45 minutes - there was a gulf in class in favour of them in that game. We are NOT better than those teams and people need to start waking up to that fact FAST.

The question is can they beat anyone half decent. We got enough gap for them not to catch us. We are awful tho so are the lot below us. Scary thing is they are brick and did not have to do much to beat us today.

So I've updated my predictions (and i will do for the remainder of the season). First result i got wrong. Based on my predictions we are now headed for 36 points at the end of the season.

I reckon Ipswich, City and Southampton are winnable. Not sure where the rest of points will come from.

Look there's always generally a club that is in the bottom 3 that manages to put a run together and crawl out. And there's invariably a team that appears fairly comfortable around Christmas that just tumbles like a stone and goes down. Right now we are the only club with that trajectory. We are in free fall. The thing is we've had no patience with Poch. We've had little patience with Mou, Nuno, Conte. For some reason, the club have decided that some absolute no-mark with nothing on his CV is the hill they're going to die on. And its jeopardising our entire future. Going down to the championship with our wage bill and stadium debt could be terminal.. negligence doesn't even begin to describe it.

I agree with you fella.

Here's a dilemma:

Stay up and win nothing, or get relegated while winning a cup treble (FA, EL, LC)?

Going down to the championship we'd be losing huge amounts of revenue with a lot of servicing costs, both day-to-day for the stadium and debt servicing. Our wage bill would be by far the highest of any club to ever get relegated too. Financial rules would start pulling the noose around our neck. It would be a disaster to be relegated IMO and the joy of the trophy win would fade into the mists of time rapidly during the ensuing horror show....

I’ve just spent an unhappy few minutes looking at our remaining fixtures to work out where points might be coming from. Obviously saints and Ipswich stand out but also two of our last three matches are at home and against palace and Brighton both of whom may have nothing to play for

And a consistent history of embarrassing us.

Let's say we get nothing from the away games (based on recent results). We've got four home 6-pointers against clubs around us (*) that we have to win. That puts us on 36 points, plus any points picked up from anywhere else if we don't win one of those (We need 0.75ppg compared to our current 1.1ppg). Wolves/Ipswich (currently on 0.73ppg) will both need more than 20 points to beat 36 points, so 6 wins/3 draws, or 5 wins/6 draws (they've not managed that from more than half a season), from 16 games (1.3ppg).
I think we'll get 17 PTS from that lot, putting us on 41pts.
That should be enough to stay up and finish 16th, maybe 15th.

We are like the pedigree dog turning up to Crufts year after year hoping to win whilst we always have a bricky arse, worms and fleas.

But the only thing we will ever win is dog most like its owner.
