Bryan Gil

I really like Gil. And I do think he'll make it in the PL.
His two biggest strengths appear to mental - he finds pockets of space & his vision is really good.
We saw those in his cameos for us.
He'll struggle for a season or two physically against some teams whilst he learns to use his body and maximize his dribbling skill.
A bit Modric when he first signed. Not saying he's gonna be on Lukas level, or even same style. Style wise, probably more David Silva.

For a team that struggles to maintain a high tempo, it's a huge indictment we didn't use him more.

While his skill and movement are a big part of his game, it's the fudging energy he brings to the game, he ran his ass off for Sevilla, constantly pressing, harassing, making runs for 100+ minutes

He needs to think more though, a few times he played for us he lost it in stupid positions that could have cost us goals. We have a lot of them at the moment so thats something he needs learn, when to take on players and when to pass the ball.

I think he's more B.Silva....but I'm splitting hairs

I like Gil, and he might have more opportunities at Spurs if we move to a 4-2-3-1 formation and I believe Slot uses.

I dont see him as good enough to be a first choice player for us yet though. Will be interesting to see whether he's willing to give Spurs another shot or whether he'd had too much frustration with life over here and he'd push for a permanent move back to Spain

He needs to be better at drawing fouls. His diminutive size means he gets pushed off the ball a lot, including a few times last night, but if he is smarter he can turn a lot of those into fouls.

It all about body position....from getting pushed off to pushed over (ie.fouled)....I'm sure we can get him to shadow Richie in training for a month and he'll become an expert.

Indeed, we may be richer, but they are better run and more successful in recent years.
That's because they're stupid enough to take the EL seriously....I've seen endless empty seats and barely a soul enjoying themselves at the Pizuan those last couple of rounds... who'd want that:rolleyes:

You say that, but since we last won a trophy they have won the Copa del Rey once, the Europa League 4 times and have just qualified for a fifth final.

Not sure we can claim to be above them.
Well, when you put it like that...!

Seriously though, you've got a team that's very much second rung in Spain (with Real, Barca and arguably Atletico as the top tier), a regular (and frequent winner) in the Europa League, versus one of the big 6 in England (taken over the last decade) and who fairly regularly make the knockout stages of the CL.

You could argue it either way. As far as being attractive to players goes, i.e. financially, I think it's fair to say we're a step above.

Who does the pretty young girl choose? The young handsome guy with a 6 pack tummy and a decent job (Sevilla), or the fat rich bloke (us).

We are at very best also 2nd rung. The two clubs are fairly comparable in terms of size and place domestically. They are just much better run, consistently play better football and are far more likely to win things.

We just play in the PL so earn more money than they do.
