[h=3]HARRY REDKNAPP insists he got it right by switching Gareth Bale from the left flank.[/h]

Some Spurs fans were left scratching their heads as Wales wonder Bale started on the right.
And they cheered when he reverted to the left in the second half.
But boss Redknapp said: "The right is a problem area for us at the moment.
"You couldn't play Rafa van der Vaart out there because Leighton Baines would have run forward and Rafa would have had a problem chasing him all day if you stuck him wide right.
"We haven't a natural wide-right player apart from Aaron Lennon but Gareth can play there.
"People who moan don't understand the game. People switch wingers now.
"Lots of left-sided, left-footed wingers play on the opposite side. It happens all the time.
"Bale likes playing there. He plays there for Wales and Gary Speed played him there all the time. He played wide right — he didn't play left.
"He did all right against Everton. He did better than he has done on the left in the last few weeks — it's not a problem."

I can't believe I'm reading this. Sounds like he's trying to cover his ass to me.

If he carries on being blatantly (or purposefully) ignorant to our current implosion and tactical impotence, then he can leave for England tomorrow for all I care

Arry is delusional if he really thinks that. Yes we've had some success this season with Bale on the right BUT that's when both him and Azza start and they switch wings during the game. It rarely if ever works when Bale starts on the right when Lennon isn't there. It's also Arry's fault we don't have any alternatives to the right side when he agreed to loan out Pienaar in the last minute of the transfer window. Talk about stupidity.

Had Pienaar ever really played on the right? He was more of a solid worker on the left, but I don't think he'd be a pacy, penetrative option that would pin full backs into their half even if he was still here. In any case he's left footed, everyone is moaning at Bale on the right...I don't get it. Yeah maybe there's an argument to say Bale on the left in his most effective position would have won us the game, but he's also had plenty of poor games (one even against Everton) where they've doubled him up as he's too predictable on the left and hasn't had a sniff. Wingers do switch flanks a lot these days, it's not a completely ridiculous thing to play Bale there.

Maybe there's an argument for giving Dos Santos a run but Harry sees him in training and you can only assume if he was this super winger-in-waiting that Harry would hardly hesitate in giving him a go. He gave him a good pre-season last year and gave him his chances at the start of the season but he didn't take them, and now he is sqaud cover.

I think it's simply that we were unlucky. We did batter them second half, we did hit the post from a yard out which would have given us a more than deserved draw on any other day. Starting off slowly was a problem but then Everton were on good form in their own stadium having just beaten Emirates Marketing Project and Chelsea, so sometimes there isn't much than can be done when a team has their tails up like that. We aren't Barca and weren't going to stop it that easily.

Still injured isn't he?

Read somewhere a while back that he was undergoing intense running/training and was close to the best shape he's been in for years.
Said he should be ready for 1st team selection some time in March iirc...so hopefully that's still the case.

If he gets himself fit and playing well in training then I'd be pretty annoyed if he's not given a chance while Lennons out.

Pienaar isn't left footed. Been watching him since 2002 and can guarantee you that.

In my opinion he offers more than the tourist Krunchie, especially in terms of work-rate and if anyone - he should have left in January if a choice was given

It depends on which Bentley shows up.

The Bentley that played during the run in to our 1st CL qualification was solid, un-flashy and did a good job. The other Bentley tries ridiculous moments of skill at inappropriate times which rarely come off.
