Archie Gray

Real Madrid ready to offer £42 million for Archie, according to this nonsense in The Guardian. They could stick a 1 in front of that figure and I still wouldn't think we should accept.

Can't help but believe it's a load of b ollocks anyhow.

So basically we would pretty much break even for the best 18 year old in the league?

Jesus, can these fudgers even try to make this brick believable?

If he gets a run in DM and he's as good as he's been in defense, his number will be 3 figure millions.

They have also got KinkyBoots learning Spanish for here he goes there in a few seasons

Willing to pay over the asking price of £42m.
I bet levy is laughing his arse off at that.

So we get Davies back from injury but instead of starting Gray in his preferred CMF role we instead switch to a back 5 for the first time under Postecoglou?!

There was one moment last night where he dropped his shoulder and breezed past his opponent, I said to my mate standing next to me 'Maddison is really good at beating players in tight spaces'.... he replied 'I think that was Archie Gray mate!'....

I blame the strong German beer! :D
Understandable mistake even sober. Quite similar the two of them in that regard.

this lad deserves all the plaudits he’s getting. Such a mature and assured player. I heard him talk on the bbc and his answers were those of a veteran, not a teenager. With luck he can stay with us and be a club legend.

I love this kid, has to be my favourite Spurs player right now. He has surely got to get an England call up at some point this season.

is it wrong that I am just wanting to see him in his preferred position? he has played LB, RB, CB and that weird hybrid DM/CB we tried at Everton. With us sighing Danso I wonder if now he will play midfield as VDV will play on Thursday.

I think we're all looking forward to seeing him in midfield.

He's done great at CB, imo done well at full back. I'm excited to see what he can do in midfield, but also think it may take some time to settle into a midfield role and get used to it. Time will tell, he'll surely get his chances in midfield sooner or later. And he has loads of time on his side.

just cannot understand the allergy Ange has to playing him in midfield. you know, his actual position.

baffling.
Perhaps because we are short in defence. With time, he will play there. But at the moment, as we say in Nigeria - 'Na condition make the crayfish bend' (pidgin) - In proper English, the crayfish (roasted shrimp) is bent due to its situation (condition) in life.

Me too, although I wonder what will happen on here if he finally gets a game in CM and isn't instantly the greatest thing since sliced bread!
This is very possible, because we've seen some great traits and the kid is clearly talented but the DM role is quite a specific undertaking and even more so under Ange. He's going to take some time adjusting and adapting to the demands. It's not a foregone conclusion that at say 19 he's ready to be a our starting DM.

Ideally we should get at least one other so there is competition for the role and cover for injury and suspensions etc.

I also think he said he was an all round midfielder and never mentioned he was a DM. But he is still young so still time to find out

good point.

our CM last night was so pathetically non-existent and weak, but saying that, with the way this clown sets us up amy CM in our system is just a lamb to the slaughter.

i'm done with Bentancur and Biss strolling round like its a sunday league game though.
