Mason talked on High Performance the other day about how he immediately sought to redress Mourinho's deficiencies in terms of morale, fitness and tactics, so I'm sure he won't be shy to initiate big changes now.

There are myriad reasons why the announcement came when it did. We will probably never know. Some will seek a sinister reason, others will think about negotiations, protecting Kane from questions or whatever. On 'paper' it seems like a sensible interregnum, and let's hope someone hypnotizes Levy into making a good new manager appointment.

He is only under contract until the summer.
If we cleared Conte's staff without bringing in a new manager now, we would have Mason and the youth coaches.

Conte seemed the problem with morale at the moment, so makes sense to cut him out and get to the end of the season.

Tbh i don't know. Conte had a bigger staff than usual (even if 1 died). Be interesting to see if the others leave too. Guessing his brother will.

Mason is different, he's club property. He'll be here with whoever is next too, just like Hughton used to

It just depends on the situation, and we clearly don’t have whoever our targets are ready to come in yet. If the season was a write off Mason would have taken charge I’m sure, but we still have a shot at top 4 and Stellini has shown he can do a job and no doubt will be given more money for doing so. No big deal…..

Yeah. But stellini was a part of contes team that we brought in. I thought of them as a package. Like sub contractors. You fire the boss they're all off site.

He's been with conte for 12 years. Conte gave him his first job in coaching.

Maybe it was mutual. Conte had enough, off on holiday. Stellini you take it. See you at inter.

Well hopefully he fixes matches in the next 10 weeks and doesn't get caught this time.

"Mutual consent" essentially means we won't get sued like Chelsea were!

Clearly this season things haven't gone as well. Contempories dying around Conte, then getting sick himself. Plus last summer's transfer activity. I'd say these two factors were the biggest reason for him going. Which is a shame as there is no doubt, he is a top coach, and given time, and him being settled in the country, he could move us on. We needed last summer to be as good a transfer window as Jan 22 when we singed Bentancur and Kulu. That we spent whatever on Richarlison and Bissouma - logical, good signings - but they haven't helped us to progress as yet, that was a big issue. We weren't able to invest in the defense. And that was a big big big mistake. Spend the Richi and Bissouma money on Gvardiol last summer and we would be having a vastly different conversation now.

Conte leaves Spurs in a much better position - we are 4th ffs. But the issue is a lack of stability now. We need a setup that can build. Where fans and owner have some patience, and that does not look like happening. Who knows even Nuno might have done well should we have given a manager time. You need 3 seasons to build your side. And no manager gets that at the moment.

Spend 80 million on an unproven 20-year old? That's nuts even for the likes of City and Chelsea.

As for Conte, he's anything but a top manager. He'd have been one if he got last year's end of the season team to perform even better, especially after 200 million in transfers. I'm pretty sure any manager worth his salt would have gotten more out of this squad AND manage two games a week.
